So today I said good-bye to the coolest non-decorated Seb I've ever held. Pristine. Large Regular. BG-42. With a Swedge.

What more can you ask for? ..........

Good-bye, my unusual beauty........

You didn't sell that to me !

I'm actually going to have to be a bit brutal about my collection too, not just CRKs either.

Sowwy. :o Actually, I didn't sell it at all. Someone on another forum wanted to trade into a special Seb to carry and use, so I offered this up. It didn't take him long to pounce.

Good on them, that is one of the knives I carry regularly and it's a superb knife indeed.

aw man, that's a purdy one right there. I've never seen one like that. Whoever it's going it sure is a lucky one.

Yea, it's not often you see the Regulars with the double cut out for the lock spring (you can see the second cut out under the clip). That's only the 3rd one I have seen, not including mine. The only thing it needs is double silver lugs. :)

Right on HAZE, I did not notice that till you said it. My large regular Stars & Stripes has the cutout on the outside as well. There was a thread about it awhile back, easily over a year ago. I ended up buying that same Stars & Stripes. Nice little touch as you can see at times CRK will try something new here and there. I haven't seen many with the secondary cutout, so its obviously quite rare. I will say I have never seen it on a small regular, only on the large. I am pretty much a Regular sebenza only guy as you know, so I think we have seen a lot of them for sure over the years....!!!

That is my all time favorite Sebenza! I've pretty much given up on ever running across a lefty one like that. The double cut out is neat. Nyfemaker, my small lefty BG-42 regular has it--so they did make at least a few of them. It also has the satin grind and matte flats which I think is really pretty.

Cool, thats good to know that they made a few in the small as well. Now that you got me thinking, I will have to go through my small regulars.....lol.

I had a large regular lefty that I got for a good price awhile back and sold it. Being a rightly, I was amazed how easily it was to lock and unlock the lefty. It had double studs, so I could open it rightly, and it felt almost natural to close it lefty. Keep an eye out, they do come up.

Awesome Blade, it would of been interesting to see what a rare beauty like that would of sold for.

gonna have to hop over and see if that lucky son of gun posts some pictures. double lugs would definitely set it straight. i wish i could get a few replacement blades for my small and large reg :(

After reading this, I switched the large reg that is my EDC (a double lug S30V from 2006) over to my right side and surprisingly, it is very easy to open and close with my off hand. Maybe this whole LH vs RH is being overblown. I do think the double lug regulars, with the machined cutout for the off side, are the easiest to operate--I also have a double lug 21 and it's definitely more awkward to open with the "wrong" hand. To me, the regular blade with a swedge is the most beautiful blade CRK has produced to date. Wish they revived it for the 25...

Large regulars are my favorite. The size and look is just about perfect, add a inlay of wood or ivory and it is perfect.

Okay, mine is without the double cutout. If everyone had one, it wouldn't be rare. No inlay, no ivory, but plenty of mars on the scales.
It really doesn't get any carry time. I normally carry my user Classic, which was my first large Sebbie, and I guess I'm used to it.

Hi, Lone_Wolfe / all!

I'm actually the lucky one who traded for this beauty. I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while, but this thread got me so excited, I just had to finally register!

Believe it or not, this will actually be my very first Seb, but I guess good things come to those who wait! I really couldn't justify passing this one up, not after seeing the pictures... it's right up my alley. As mentioned, I plan on throwing this in my pocket the day I get it, but all these posts are almost making me feel guilty to do so. :P

Can anyone please expand on the significance/history of the double lock-bar cutout? I didn't even notice until Haze brought it up, but it does seem rather unique. I'm far from a CRK expert, so I'd appreciate any and all info!

Thanks again, Lone_Wolfe; and don't worry, it's going to a good, permanent home. :D

Welcome and congrats on a splendid knife, Tele.

CRK tend to make little changes here and there through the production life of a knife. The Regulars with the double cut out were just one of those little changes. It does tend to be associated with a BG-42 blade (not always though) and that is something that many of us are on the look out for. The frame (handle) may aslo have fluting round the outside edges and that is an indicator of a ~2000 vintage year, or there abouts give or take.

I have a knife the same as yours but with no swedge. One of my EDCs is a large Regular in S30V with double lugs and swedge. Easily the best production knife I have found and probably ever will. I don't think it would too much of a stretch to describe the large Regular as Chris Reeve's master piece, add a BG-42 blade and you hare hitting very hard indeed. :)

I think if it had double lugs, Tele would still be searching for his special Seb. This one was hard enough to let go as it was, knowing I may never have another like it. But my safe overfloweth, and my bank account does not.

This thread makes my heart ache.... I almost acquired this blade from LW and she was so gracious about holding it for me for a period. But alas, it was not to be as I had things come up that prevented me from buying it. It was fated to be in the new owners hands. And now to help soothe my soul I am going to stop viewing this thread and weep gently in my dark corner...

Enough drama...

Congrats TELE--that's a heckuva first Seb to own!
