I can't stop playing with my Manix 2

It can be easily closed with one hand. In fact, just about any folding knife can be closed with one hand. Just takes practice.

I'm taking it slow but starting to get the hang of it. I just might make an offer to buy this knife from family before I leave. :D

The trick with the Manix is to compress the ball bearing lock and with a flick of the wrist close the blade. Your hand shouldn't have to touch the blade to close it. Make sure your fingers are outside the path of the blade of course.

You guys are making me worry. I bought a Manix and a Manix Xl, and I loved them so much that I ordered a PM2. Is it possible, I bought the best one first?

Yes it is possible. I read where some people prefer the PM2 and some people prefer the Manix 2. I have both and there are aspects of each one that I like.

When I use my thumb and index finger to compress the lock, I find myself using the remaining fingers pressed up against the pocket clip for stability. Is this wrong?

My satin finish Manix in S30V came in the mail yesterday, I haven't stopped playing with it either. I find the lock rather hard to disengage, loosening or tightening the pivot does nothing. I'm sure it will get easier from use. But opening the blade is buttery smooth, it basically flies out and has zero blade play. Apart from that, the handle resembles that of a Hinderer knife, it's extremely ergonomic and it has jimping all over, feels great to hold.
I found the S30V a pain in the ass to sharpen, It took me over 5 hours of straight sharpening on my non-diamond Lansky set, took a wicked edge though after re-profiling
I'll take a Manix over a PM2 anyday. I'm starting to want the DLC one now ;)although I'm buying the Southard once I deposit my paycheck so it will have to wait

Next to my Dragonfly...the Manix is too big to carry at work, I work at a Grocery store and pulling out a Manix might not be the best idea :D..i'll stick to the Dragon

Nice shot !

I just got stock alert on a Manix 2 C101GP2. Ran to the computer and snagged the last one. This will make my second Manix in two weeks, the first being the translucent blue. Great knife. Unfortunately if a PM2 shows up I won't have the funds for a while, but at least I have a couple of Manix 2's to console me.

SpydrMan, enjoy the Manix family! I have 4 Manix models, the old 154cm, s30v, lightweight blue, and XL in s30v. And then I have one PM2. I like the PM2, but the ergos and function of the Manix have it a winner in my opinion.

You definitely need a southard, what a great flipper. I bought a southard and a manix 2 cruwear about the same time.

Great knives, lots of fun. Enjoy

I can't stop playing with the Southard that arrived yesterday. I have quite a few Spydies (e.g., Domino, Manix 2, PM2, Delica...), but this one is just absolutely superb. It exceeded my high expectations.

My manix 2 CTS-XHP is probably my favorite knife. As far as the Southard goes, well I may be drawn and quartered for saying this, but I was thoroughly unimpressed by the flipping action and the design/shape of the flipper. I'd look at the Dice or the Domino if I'd be considering a Spydie flipper. I know the CTS-XHP of the Domino/Dice isn't quite as nice as CTS-204p in the Southard, but its still a extraordinary steel.

So far after carrying a family members manix2 for a week, I like the leightweight feel, the grip and the blade. What I'm having a little problem with is the lock release which feels stiff and also the way my hand feels when one hand closing. Feels awkward.

Get a high grip on the handle and pull down with thumb and tip of your fore finger. Then just shake the knife a tad n the blade should close

I feel like the only way to close the blade is to brace the pocket clip with the middle index and pinki fingers. Without the pocket clip it would be impossible to close one handed.

I use the same concept but use the bottom part of the handle pushing down as leverage to push the lever.

I don't think the manix2 was made to close one handed. I like the knife but close the blade like a slipjoint.

Have you ever used the Axis lock? I find that opening the ball bearing lock is the same concept as the axis lock, just a bit more "stiff".

Hmm, my manix 2 is fairly new and stiff still and I have no problem whatsoever closing it one handed.

But take away the pocket clip and there's nothing to hold onto. If I flip it over and use the side opposite the pants clip, it's almost impossible for me to close the blade one handed.

Dig your ring finger into the lanyard hole. Just did it left handed.
