Good for you people that have found religion to be comforting. Ive looked at many and havent found a reason to embrace any of them.

there is an appropriate place for them, just not here.

people want to talk about how God has helped them? that's fine, so long as it isnt forced on anyone, and it doesnt appear anyone here intends to do that.

if you mean a movie would cause me to betray my heritage I sort of doubt it. In fact the whole idea is rather insulting.
 
If you watch that movie, then you should watch Bill Maher's Religulous to balance it out. Not a super intellectual refutation of religion (read The God Delusion for that), but it's pretty funny.

Christian Myth posts and Girly pictures don't belong here, but if you have one suck it up for the other. Nobody is forceing you to look at the Girly pictures either. On the other hand slipping a religious post in under a title that does
not identify it as Jesus Spam thereby tricking people into reading it, comes as close to force as can be seen on a forum.
 
This is going to get ugly fast, this thread is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic, may I suggest locking it down before it gets out of hand? I foresee this arousing even stronger emotions than the political BS that plagued this place less than a week ago. If it doesn't get nasty I apologize but I'll be shocked if it doesn't.

It does not have to, and should not, if the God haters would start their own thread and go crap there instead of here. Interesting how some cannot tolerate dissent from the party line that the universe created itself from nothing without a cause.

I saw the movie, and its about the best thing I have ever seen in a theater. I'm going to buy it as well. Ben Stein is awesome, as is the basis for the movie, which I find rational and supported by the evidence.

At a minimum, one should be able to at least say the words "intelligent design" without being told to shut up. Thats the point of the movie, for those who have not seen it, and it would be well applied in this thread.

Thank you hotrodKelley for the courage to be a man in a room full of boys.

i was just saying posting the pics did not belong in this thread.

i see your points, im not offended by either.

by force, i suppose i mean telling everyone who does not believe what aaron does is wrong and going to hell. that sort of thing.

seems to me those who agree are simply saying so, those who dont are saying otherwise.

we can still be civil when discussing a topic we dont necessarily subscribe to or believe in.

i dont believe aaron's motives to be malicious, but when it comes down to it, i also dont think this thread belongs in this forum since religion is such a polarizing subject.

I love Jesus as much as the next guy, but this is not the place for this one.

Uncle Jarvis, the first pic is passable, the second one is not and you know it.

I don't know if this is fits the parameters for political forum fodder, but it certainly isn't a good idea here out of fairness to those members who do not share our beliefs. I know Christ told us to go out and preach the Good News, but he also taught us not to beat people over the head. St. Francis said preach always the Gospel and when necessary use words.

I think the best course of action may be to lock this one rather than dump it in political. If Aaron wants to spread the word on this excellent film, he can make a post there and take his chances.
