I could cry...

Yes, it's equally craptacular in real life.

LMAO Thanks for the laugh Bob, I almost fell out of my chair..
On the bright side, you didn't get him anything this year so rest assured nexts years gift will be even better.. :D
Maybe they will make this into a yearly Collectors knife series and he will be nice enough to make sure you don't miss any of the series LOL
Its true though its the though of giving that counts, its just hard sometimes to look past the gift and remember that.

I agree that it doesn't look to be the greatest knife ever made from a collector or user standpoint, but provided the person didn't know any better, its a great gift!
I have recieved gifts like this before, and honestly, as I have matured (heck im only 24) I have really grown to appreciate things like this more and more.
When someone cares enough to get me a thoughtful gift, regardless of the quality etc, it really touches me.
Just make sure that the person who got you that gift doesn't read BF! :D
By the way, i'm not trying to stand on a soapbox here, just my humble thoughts :)

Give it to Noss4 to test. No, wait, he will think he is being attacked by the carved eagle knife company!

Hey, that looked really great, what I could see of it. I love those websites where they have a postage-stamp-sized thumbnail of the picture, and it says "click for larger image", and when you do, it's either the exact same size or 1 mm larger. :D

For $10, I think it was well worth the laugh we've all had.

Always wanted a "balled" (not a misspelling) eagle statue to display proudly in my office .... IMO your knife would look perfect sitting right next to it. :)

My Mom says she would never buy me knives because she knows she wouldn't get the right thing unless I told her what to get. I love my Mom.  :D

I have received several poor quality knock-offs, or just poor quality knives as gifts over the years. I never sell them or regift them because the gifts were given by people who knew that I like knives and thoughtfully tried to get me something I would like, and I was taught to receive a gift in the manner in which it was given.

Well, hey... At least we can be thankful that the culture is such that giving a knife is acceptable, even to people who have no idea what a knife collector would want. I really doubt that kind of gift would be acceptable in the UK, where the media rails against the "knife culture," which is apparently 100% responsible for all of their crime problems.

I got a big shiny thing as a knife present one year. I keep it in my desk drawer to open letters.

Just think, that blade may one day save your life!

It's 2032 and the Chinese conscript at your throat collecting everything of value in America to pay off our national debt sees that thing on the mantle and says, "Hey! My Mom used to make those! Thanks for pulling us up out of poverty. I'll give you a pass this month.":D

And he has enough taste to not take the knife and you curse your luck yet again.
