I've had this piece of English Walnut sitting around for a few years.

It was cut near a crotch. Looked kind of cool but not overly exciting.

So I cut it wrong just to see what would happen.
What do you think?
Knife handle blocks?
......or kindling?

Those top two sections look really nice! The bottom two I like as well. Would this need to be stabilized because of the way it was cut (or does English Walnut always need to be stabilized...)? I'd be interested....

What are the dimensions..?

Right now the dimensions are 21&1/2 long x 2&1/2 wide x 1&1/4

the left end has checks that go in 1 inch, then about 7 inches of solid stuff,
then the checks in the eye then 9 inches solid on top two, 10 inches on bottom 2. A few 1/4 in deep surface checks on the edge.

I figure each piece would yield at least a solid 7x2 and 8x2 piece. Maybe better.

I don't know if it should be stabilized. The english walnut tends to be harder and heavier than the other walnuts

This photo shows the grain orientation a little better.
