Really?
That's not all that bad, a couple days in your pocket and you might get something that looks like that. If you're really bothered by it I'm sure you could get it out with sandpaper and repolishing the brass, or Buck could probably buff that out too, but if that's the only one I wouldn't worry about it that much. I can't get a good picture of the scratches on mine because my camera's a cheap piece of junk but I have a couple in mine that look like that, one scratch goes straight from the end of the bolster, right across the handle scale.

i would hand sand it out, tape up everything you dont want sanded (i use blue painters tape) then hand sand up through grits, i have a set of microsanding sheets that work well to get a surface like glass:thumbup: brass is pretty soft so you dont need a heavy hand
really shouldnt be that bad to fix. Personally i wouldnt try polishing with a dremel but to each his own:) the brass is gonna patina no matter what, if it bothers ya a polishing cloth or renwax does a pretty good job.
best of luck

IMO if it's a user that's nothing to worry about. It gives the knife character. But the folks here have given you some different good suggestions. Take your pick.

Well, it is my son's first knife given to him by his grandfather and he still doesnt know that I scratched it...

Hi Sig,

If you look at my post on page 1 you will see how I removed some scratch's from the brass bolsters of a 112. The scratch's were about as deep as yours (someone had used an electric engraver to put their initials in all 4 bolsters). It only took a few hours to fix it using the tips provided in that thread.

If you are worried about it not coming out right. Box it and send it to Buck. As I showed you the work they can and do perform. Cost to you $6 for shipping and $6-8 for the repair. Buck takes great pride helping their customers and that kind customer service = public relations a company can't pay an advertising company to get for them and their reputation speaks for itself! As this knife has special meaning to you and your son; I think you need to fix it....one way or the other.

Thanks JB4570. I think I can buff it out myself...I will at least give it a try. I will let you know how it goes. I had fun looking at your Photobucket account; you have some nice knives.
