I did it...

No, the Swamp Rat forum is fine...HOWEVER we need to make EVERYONE feel welcomed:)

We have alot of new brothers and sister's to the Busse Knife Group and they are unsure about it how they are related.

I know that you are old HOG and we appreciate all of your help but you gotta remember we were all NEW once:)

People look up to you cause you are on the website (Awesome Sheaths BTW) and when you post things.. they think that they are in the wrong for asking such questions...:)

You just keep making your awesome sheath's and we will keep making awesome knives:)

XOXO:)

I dont know, I've re-read it several times and I still cant see where I talked down to Payette, where do you see the harsh words? So far no one I've asked to look at it have seen anything condescending or rude. I was merely trying to point him to the Swamp Rat section in what I was intending as a help.

Its so easy to read into what a person is trying to say and come up with whatever you want to see in it. If you think I am looking down on people, well, your wrong. I have the utmost respect for our community all all who are in it, especially the new kids on the block. If anything since the last couple of years I feel on the outside looking in. I hold no status or rank, no one looks up to me. I dont mean squat. Its the internet, dont take it so serious and it wont eat you up inside like I let it a while back.

Again I meant nothing disrespectful! Just like my drinking comment, its nothing personal Just my opinion! and it doesnt mean anything.

Guyon is right, I would like to see more traffic in the Swamp, and I truly think that Swamp Rat knife subjects belong there. No disrespect to ANYONE who does differently. Dont worry, I wont go there again, lesson learned: Dont mess with the drinkers and dont suggest anything to anyone. No worries Amy, I'll crawl back in my hole and work my leather and mind my own business. :o

I was a bit slow on the uptake of the warm and wet comment. Swamp, warm, wet, a bit slow but I did get it eventually.
No worries mate.....

Thank you! I'm glad someone got it! :D :D :D I feel better now.

i also thought she was confused about the "wet" part, like i was.

took me a minute to realize swamps are wet, and therefore the swamprat forum is wet. figuratively, of course.

Looking back over this thread, I believe that I see several misinterpretations and miscommunication with what I also believe to be no ill intent... However, as it goes with comms by text, sometimes the gist of what someone posts is lost due to not hearing them actually speak the words... The Internet is a great form of social interaction for folks with common interests to meet and share these interests without being restricted by geographical distance... But it ain't perfect. ;)

Most folks here know that many who are not participants of our forum view us as being..well "elitist" for lack of a softer definitive adjective. When I put on my "n00b" cap, I can see how someone who is unfamiliar with how we interact here, but might be familiar about how others perceive this group could take several of the posted replies on this thread incorrectly.

Regardless of who PayetteRucker is, where he hails from or what sparked his interest in Bussekin knives, or why; he came here to to do what many of us did when we first got one... To discuss the purchase, enjoy the group with the same interests,,and maybe to learn more about them.

All Amy was doing is what a Moderator is supposed to do... to make newcomers feel welcome and to keep the peace. I do see where she was coming from. The key phrase that I get is this... We were ALL new once. :) I remember lurking here for quite a while to get a better understanding of this group because both the knives and the folks here had me intrigued and I felt the spirit that brought everyone together...although when I first arrived here it took me a while to get the tongue-in-cheek sense of humor over the HOG references...LOL, I couldn't understand how everyone could be called porkers, piglets, HOGs, swine, pork rinds and a few other names by everyone including the Boss and continue to cheerfully post without hard feelings!! To me, that was strange as heck until I read enough threads and watched how the group interacted with each other...Then I not only understood, but I embraced it. ;)

The times they are a changing... Many new faces, many new names, but still with one thing in common... Bussekin knives. Please try to make them feel welcome here, as well as help them root out the knowledge...and as they grow from pork rinds to piglets to HOGs, hopefully they too will show others just arriving to our fair Forum(s) the same courtesy. :)

Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent...! :o I hope this helps to clear the air... Carry on, Porkers! :D

congrats on a great score, one of my favorite of the Busse Kin line for sure, post pics when you get it

The only rat I like better than the HRLM is the ratmandu. Just about perfect. I have said in the past that I like most of the swamp designs better than the newer busse stuff. Mainly because the swamp stuff tends toward the feel of the older busse stuff. The reissue of BOSS blades is curing that for me though! That of course hasn't stopped me from buying lots of busse stuff. Lots of sensitivity training going on considering we are all big tough knife guys/gals and should be able to take a mild ribbing here and there. No harm, all are welcome and I look forward to my new choilless mean street (boss). Hopefully it will be here in time for one more camping trip. Enjoy your howler, I love all of mine.

Was NOT trying to start a debate-for all I know the three companies are pretty much one and the same. I see people in here talking about all three companies all the time so figured this was the logical place to post. Other than the engraving on the blade and the welcome page on the website, the designs and construction materials look extremely similar. I've been weighing these knives for a long time, the cost, practicality, etc especially since I went about a year and a half jobless. Now I'm going to school, the GI bill is covering my living expenses (and more...) and I've got a pretty sweet temporary weekend job, so if there was ever a time to try it it was now. I had no idea there was an individual SwampRat forum, I'll go check it out. So do these knives ship when the runs are done, or are they shipping immediately? I have no clue when to expect it.

depends.

if you get one from a company store, it will ship when purchased.

but sometimes the offerings are for future runs, sort of.

I checked the Swamp Rat store, and noticed that some say that they are ready to ship now. Take a stroll back and take a peek to see if the HELM combo you ordered states this. :)

BTW, you are welcome here, and yes, although there is a separate Swamp Rat forum... (2, actually :D ...the other is on the Swamp Rat home website, and I recommend checking it out too!) Because SRKW is a Busse Family company, there will always be a little cross forum chatter. No worries, and feel free to come back any time! :)

BTW...no need to call your local rehab center!! Quitting...is for quitters! :foot:;) :D:D

Payette, before you know it you'll be eyeballing that RatManDu sitting right next to the Howler on the order page, its a sickness.

I said eyeballing didn't I? :o I'll be here waiting for my punishment. :p

awesome! welcome to your new addiction. You might as well start direct depositing your checks to busse/swamprat/scrapyard. :)

Thanks :) Definitely a practical user versus a collector, so my purchases will reflect that, (stick to the reasonable survival/combat utility designs with reasonable thickness) but as stated, I'm already checking out the RatManDu  great.
