I traded a CR small Sebenza CCG for this:

I'm the kind of person who has always carried a knife but use it only for office and household tasks. Although I appreciated the quality of the CR... I really wanted a flipper. This Hoback is great. Ticked all the boxes for me personally. Well designed, very very high quality. Fit and finish is comparable to anything else I've owned. Also, the best designed liner lock I've come by.

Flips like my ZT's and has a CR like build...not for everyone but perfect for me.

Really nice!
The Kwaiback was on my list of knives to get until Jake decided to not make any more lefty knives.
Something about a lefty refusing to make left handed knives really rubbed me the wrong way.

You are right, it was unthinkable! If you send it to me (the despicable trade) I will see to it that you never have to be embarrassed by this terrible mistake by looking at it again. ;) No need to thank me, it is Christmastime. :D

I am really intrigued by Hoback designs. He doesn't oppress lefties!

I wonder why more people don't use the Hoback Rolling Detent. He has given all the permission in the world for others to use it as long as credit is given. Seems like a no brainer. By the way, does the Kwaiken have the HRD? If so, can you tell a noticeable difference between that and regular detent balls?

Great looking knife, I certainly see why you'd trade a CRK for it, nothing wrong with that.
Looks like a fun knife, hope it brings a smile to your face. :D

Very speedy looking design - for some reason it reminds me of the profile of a vintage Chris Craft speedboat.

Whatever floats your boat - with those two knives you certainly can't go wrong.

best

Me too. I think its the way the ass end slopes down. Sweet knife.

Hobacks knives are great! I have a Hoback A10, one of my favorites for sure, the HT and grind on it are great!

Just my two cents (and worth about that much!)

The Sebenza (and company) is/are great knives, but I've seen so many discussions here that stop with them. It's made me wonder what alternatives there are, and I'm glad to see somebody else exploring the road less traveled.

The "knife" less traveled...?

Honestly because many times it more trouble than its worth. Most detents done properly can be just as smooth. And some don't feel the guillotine effect low friction detents have is a desirable trait. As for him giving everyone permission to use it as long as credit is given? I kinda feel the reason its open source is because its not really an invention but rather a repurposing of a part that has been around for quite a long time. All it is is a ball bearing set screw re purposed as a detent. Its Kinda like you cant patent a hex screw because you realized you can use it as a thumbstud. IMHO it makes little sense to drill a hole through the lockbar and use a set screw that can back off, fall out or strip when a properly done detent can have the exact same effect and is permanent.

I kinda figure the same thing but then we can get into issues of other novelty features like bearing pivots and all that. I believe it'd sell as many knives as these other features even though the same principle applies to all of them. A properly made liner lock with PB washers will operate as well as a knife with bearings and a frame lock, etc. I still think it'd be a fun thing, and at least something a little helpful to tweak a knife to a user's taste. Speaking of that issue you brought up with the set screws, I wonder how the lionsteel TRE screws hold up. I'm assuming if they are fine then the set screw on an HRD would work just as well.
