I didn't carry a knife today!

...and I reached for it at least 3 times and came up empty handed o_O.

Always have a knife in my pocket or on my hip but today I dressed to do some dirty work and even my most used/worn EDC was too nice for the task so I left it off.

How do people do it? :(

I breath a sigh of relief now as I am showered and changed and have my little Jeff Baker - Bocote Bart in my pocket, supper is on the stove, my favorite Black Isle Stout is in hand and all is right with my world.

Any day I "might" forget a knife ..., I simply reach for my cash to find my DragonFly holding my bills securely (my money-clip of choice). Then ..., it's a matter of deciding if the D.F. will handle the day ;-) I have always been amazed the capacity of the diminutive D.F. for real world applications.

It drives me nuts when I run outta the house without a knife. But I've never ran into a day that there wasn't a knife I owned to just not carry it due to messing it up. My rat 1 and a few gerbers are reserved for that stuff.

That's why there's a Spyderco Ladybug on my keychain and a Case Peanut tucked into my wallet...just in case I somehow make it out the door without anything else.

Don't ever decide to not grab some sort of knife.
If I were you I'd at the very least get a Gerber EAB or better yet a case sodbuster for such occasions.
You may also want to keep something inexpensive in your car.

It's one thing to forget a knife ( something I have absolutely never ever done ) , but to decide not to carry one ( I've absolutely never ever done this either ) is just blasphemy in the knife community ;);)

OK OK - I should have at least thrown in my hawksbill lineman folder. :( I promise it will never happen again - at least not that I would ever admit it :D

I was recently in the airport and couldn’t help thinking about my knives I had to check in luggage. It felt like a member of my family had been separated from me. All the while I kept sticking my hand into bare pockets.

i cant remember which knife i carried two days ago but i clearly remember the one i didnt carry that one day two years ago

I still shiver when i think about it:(

Glad your back to normal OP:)

Yep... I have learned the hard way.
That day I went on the 'Bay and bought a Victorinox Secretary, and it has ridden in my wallet ever since. I would have been without a knife twice after that, but I was just fine.

Might I suggest the same, as well as a dedicated dirty work knife.
Fixed blade: Spyderco Mule in LC200N
Folding: Spyderco in fully serrated H1.
Or
Wait til this years releases in LC200N. A lot.of the H1 models are getting the upgraded alloy for a straight edge performance boost.

Clipping a folder inside my waistband when getting dressed is as automatic as putting my money in my pocket every time I get dressed. I don t forget or choose to do without either , ever.

A "dedicated dirty work knife" - a "true beater knife" YIKES - what a concept.

That's like keep an extra hand for just in case :poop: yuk . I like my knives and NO, they aren't all shiny and pampered BUT BUT BUT - I went without today and that I can no longer abide. I will keep a DDK or a TBK right handy with my rotation. No day should be without a knife at the ready. Lesson learned .

You guys made me laugh :D

A humble and wiser, Ray

As long as I put on my pants in the morning, I have my cross-draw Bradford Guardian 3 in M390, as well
as my Wilson/CRK clipped into my RH pocket. Note: Image is reversed...lt to rt.

My keys have a beater SAK Classic on them (no scales, nail file broken off), so there's always some cutter on me if I'm out of the house. But as a horseman, it's not my go to blade!
