I would love to see the SEAL Knife 2000 made with BG-42 and a kraton handle. Does anyone agree with me??

Sounds like a reasonable and GOOD idea to me!
The more BG-42 in fixed blades, the better.

Hi Guys,

BG-42 is certainly a steel we are interested in. I'm sure it will find its way into selected knives in the near future.

BTW, we are going to be heat treating our BG-42 knives to a lower Rc 59-60. This is something we've been looking into since we began carrying BG-42. Our choice for shooting at Rc 62 was for extreme edge holding. We've since found that BG-42 at Rc 59-60 still holds an incredible edge, but is tougher overall.

BG-42 at 59-60RC, and found in patterns such as the SEAL series? Hang on to your SOG hats folks, this will be amazing!

Hi Crayola,

I think you are getting a little ahead of the "gun" in hoping for BG-42 steel knives for the SEAL Series. It's most likely to remain the same. The plans I've heard are to leave exsisting knives as is (steel wise) and select specific models from our upcoming knives to be in BG-42.

Talking about our secret knew products...We have come exciting new projects "on our plate!" Be looking forward to our SHOT Show 2002 presentation!

Hope this helps.

I've been itchinmg to get a Tigershark but am hoping and waiting for something other than 440A. A Tigershark in BG-42 would be ordered immediately. Betch I'm not alone.

While I as well wish for a number of otherwise exellent SOG products to be made from this super steel rather than the lower end steels, the price would go up and the simple truth is BG-42 won't resist rust as well as AUS-6 or 440a. You have to look at the function and use/enviroment a product will get:eek: , that made some sense? . I better sit down;) !
