I Don't Like Monday Mornings! (AKA: The Coffee Thread)

I've got my shiva in my desk.

I'm currently enjoying Peets Kenyan Peaberry via French Press.
Its as close to Jamaican Blue Mountain as you can get! IMO

I bought a big bag of seattle mountain from Costco. $10 for 2.5 pounds.. How bad good it be?

Stabs... I'm worried about your taste buds! Guiness is the coffee of beers... and is neither tangy or very bitter...

And Kona should be smooth and sweet and slightly floral... Try it from Peets it wont let you down.

We got a secretary at work we call "Big Buns". Think they are related? Ours doesn't make coffee. just trouble though:eek:

Got the HD beside me on the desk, just stropped it a couple times on some 600 grit for paper slicing. Finished my second cup of fresh ground homemade Starbucks Sumatra with a touch of half/half. Unfortunately facing a hot cup of Folgers from the Big Bunn in the coffee room next. It will really taste like $h1t on top of these cough drops.

I was a true coffee snob for many years, but now I drink instant. Although I miss real taste, what I drink now is easier on my digestive system. Even as nasty as it is.

Bro, I'm so sorry for ya... That's like having to go back from Busse blades to (insert trash blade name here) :D:D

I am on the De-Caf for awhile.......per Docs orders...:(:(

The crew is doing the Snoopy Dance :):)

I've only had Kona from local well water. It is smooth but I have not noticed any floral notes, the water could have to do with the bitter hint. Maybe I'll try some bottled or R.O. water and see if it changes much:thumbup: Not that I intended to say Guiness is bitter but it has the right tangy tweak when it's not served frozen;)

Sumatra Mandeling is the most caffinated coffee on teh planet. So wake-me-up is that bean. Oily as all get-out too! And low acidity for cup-after-cup drinkability.

I prefer Mayorga brand. Ordered from JR Cigars.

Not bitter, Guinness brewers add a bit of sour wort back into the beer before bottling for that twang. Guinness, Sumatra Mandeling... both work for me!!

Wife grinds hazlenut and mocha java fresh every morn. 3 cups and my BAD and I'm off to work

Jaxx - Hopefully tonight you will sipping champagne from your Busse coffee mug - toasting the Phillies win :-)

And if you go to the parade, you better take an AK and a FBM.

Exhausted, but the coffee got me through. :) Guatemala Antigua Flor De Esperanza from Martinez (www.martinezfinecoffees.com if ya wanna try some damn fine coffee! Roasted in small batches, and right before shipping. Free plug... and no, I don't work for them!), was the first big mug *TASTY*... who knows what the Starbucks was... other than the espresso shots in it!

Strabs... Try filtering the water before adding to the coffeemaker. Brita pitchers do well. One of the secrets to great coffee is in the water. :)

Knife of the day was my modded Busse LE LrMrSt, along with an XM-18 and a fireman's SAK.:thumbup:

UDDwaine I'm too beat to drink, but GO PHILLIES!!! :D:thumbup:

...Meeting adjourned! lolz... :D

So it's almost 8am here in chilly, foggy Penn's woods, and with no sleep, I'm facing one of those rare days where I gotta be out before 9 to hit a meeting, firing on all cylinders...

<snork> My heart bleeds. I have to catch the bus out to the Lab at 0530, so that means a shower no later than 0500. On the weekend, I sleep in until 0700 and it feels like cheating.

Coffee is the one vice I never picked up while in the Navy. Morning caffeine is tea, courtesy of a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea pot kept in my cubicle. Sometimes it's an ice cold Coke.

Well, today it was my Shiva in the truck and my favorite nursing assistant fixed a killer pot of Jamaica Me Crazy. At 0400 I do not function well enough to make coffee before I get to work! ;)

I've always been more nocturnal... Never been much of a morning person! :D

Ah, but you were awake enough to check the Forum! :) I saw you this morning!! ;) :D

I'm a Kona or Blue Mountain dood myself. (whole bean, ground right before brewing)

Here's another tip, besides using "cold" :) filtered or mountain spring water....if you're brewing drip\expresso....spray the top of the grinds with a spray bottle (I also use filtered in there too), just enough to moisten the top....then brew away as normal. The spray water on the top, allows the water to penatrate thru the grounds, as oppsoed to around them.

I don't make this stuff up!! :thumbup::thumbup: :)

I get my coffee on the run from Starbucks. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that they had a sign in their window that said "Four ethically sourced cocoas". I've asked 5 different people working the drive thru what an "ethically sourced cocoa" was and no one knew. The closest I got was one kid who said "Its probably there so we can charge more and you will feel better about spending more." And for the Busse, I'd carry the biggest one you can get away with and not get arrested.

Dedicated, that's me! Just not very awake...I think I'll take it black this morning...

Blue Mountain is the world's best to me. Too danged expensive. I had it at a resort in Jamaica 16 years ago. No cream. No sugar. STRAIGHT. And it was delish! (I tend to drink with cream, no sugar. Never EVER milk. Bleech!)

I can't drink any other coffee straight. Yet I've YET to be able to duplicate the resort coffee at home. :( Maybe it was the 'crush up the beans and pour water over them' method of brewing. Perhaps they stuck a length of sugarcane in the pot. I dunno. But it was AMAZING. Didn't wake me up, but a treat to the tastebuds.

Yer all wimmen. Wimmen, I say!

I spent decades in the military. We chew our morning coffee!

And we're proud of it. :)
