Yesterday I was at a real knifemakers shop and got to use his Burr King, and it was so nice that I hate my Craftsman 2x42. Now I am going to have to upgrade or else I won't be happy.:grumpy: I might have to save up an get me a mickley no weld soon. I have read here that they are nice grinders, how much money is needed for the plans and materials from your experiences? Thanks.

The coote looks like a no fuss and affordable grinder option. In terms of time and money, it might be a better deal than a NWG, at least for me.

The no weld grinder should be pretty easy to build. You can save a lot of cash if you can scrounge the steel. Then all you have to buy is the drive wheel that fits your motor and what ever contact and idler wheels you need. here is Tracys site.. http://www.usaknifemaker.com

I made knives on a 3x21 belt sander upside down in a vice for a bit to earn money to buy a better grinder.

I think the NWG costs about $200 plus motor to build from what I've heard.

I did a quick google search and did'nt find anything on NWG. If you could provide me with a link I wouldvery much appreciate it. Thanks.

Frank if your near Corpus you can come check out a KMG here.... :)

Les

Les George, I live in the Valley, but Corpus isn't that far. If I go that way I will get in touch with ya. I was working there for two months, finished up two weeks ago though.
