From the very first opening, I knew I had a winner. One of the smoothest opening knives I've ever held. I can easily compare it to my old Large Sebenza in terms of fit and finish. Perfect grind, perfectly centered blade, and an action like butter. The knife locks up solidly and the liner lock is robust, I have no fear of the lock failing, although I don't generally hammer anything with the spine of the knife and for the most part, only use the cutting edge to cut.

The CF handles are slick, but not to the point where I have felt as if it hampered the knifes performance. I even don't mind the lock placement. I find the liner lock to still be accessible with little problem. Initial sharpness was more than adequate and this is coming from someone who usually reprofiles a knife the day he gets it. I've been using it for a couple days now and it has NOT remotely lost any of its sharpness. I plan on taking the edge down to probably 15 degree per side and finishing it up with .5 micron diamond compound when this dulls, which doesn't seem like it'll be any time soon.

This knife IMO rivals many of the big hitters, and easily rivals 400 dollar semi production knives. If you don't have one, get one.

Edited to add some macro shots I took. They're my first with a new lens and no tripod so they aren't as clear as they should be, but theres a close up of the CF

NICE PICS!
If you don't have one, get one.
Just got one & I too love it, Thanks Santa :D Only thing Id change about it, which Im sure isnt even possible w/out sacrificing something else, would be to fully expose the hole, shes a little tougher to flick than others, but gosh, what a knife! Also one of the sharpest spydercos Ive ever handled out of the box, NICE JOB SPYDERCO & Mr Bradley

I agree. It is the best production knife for the money I have purchased. I bought an extra and had the liners ceracoated just so I would have one in the wings.

Great knife and I am not even a Spyderco guy.

I cut away the liner and CF to make it easier to unlock, and it had the added benefit of exposing the hole fully. It's pretty easy to do if you have a dremel or anything like that--maybe 30 minutes of work total.

AHHHHH :p:D I dont have the courage but would certainly enjoy seeing a pic  Now that you mention it, I can see why you would do it as its a little tougher to close than others, but I think I like that with a liner lock, makes it harder to have it accidentally close in the unlikely chance that it would.

Hi 230grains -

Very nice pictures!

Thanks for posting them.

best regards -

No, they drilled the holes in the liners on the newer ones. 5.3 oz from 5.5 oz. (according to cutleryshoppe)

OH, Ive noticed people in the ex ask when they are for sale if it is Gen 1 or 2, never knew why. Looks like I got Gen 2. Any other differences between gens besides for the skeletonized liners?

I honestly don't consider this a heavy folder at all. It's profile isn't all that bulky either, it's quite slim IMO for such a durable knife. Then again, I've never had a problem carrying an 0200, 0300, SMF etc.. This is probably the last knife I'll buy until I pick up a Lionsteel SR-1.

The early ones do not have the Texas/GB stamp on the blade and full liners; the Taiwan stamp may not have been on either, I am not sure.
Next the Texas/GB stamp was on the blade and still full liners and the Taiwan stamp.
Now it has the Texas/GB stamp, drilled liners, and Taichung Taiwan stamp.

Sombody should correct me if I am wrong in the above statements, or if threre are any other variants.

nice pictures! I got one too, and I love it the only thing is the handle to blade ratio is a bit high for me, but still its awsome. I never really knew what a "flipper" was till I got this one.

The GB stamp was always there but there was a Gen 1 batch that was released without the GB stamp by accident. I'm pretty sure the only difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 1 GBs are the the drilled liners and the Taichung Taiwan.

For any of you who have reprofiled yours, what's the lowest angle you've taken it and how did it hold up?

Very nice photos of a good looking knife! How do I explain to my wife when I get one of these. :(

I sharpened mine on the Edge Pro, I did not reprofile it. I sharpened to the factory bevel and it cuts like a champ.

Just out of curiosity, where was the factory bevel set?

It matched the 30* setting of my Sharpmaker exactly and came super sharp. I was kinda bummed actually because sharpening it would've let me play with it right away :p

edit: BTW forgot to mention before, 320grains, those are some really nice pictures!
