Yep, you heard me right...its 0638 am here in Alberta, its not to cold out, but i think its around -16 c..

I dont want to go to work...Work sucks. I would rather go to BC with all of my gear, snowshoe up into the mountains and enjoy life... No wait a min....ive got to go to f***in work, get yelled at by my boss for bringing the junglas to work to cut my lunch with (road kill), get yelled at by the jobsite contact for cutting rope, duct tape and everything else that i can justify with my ESEE 3 , get yelled at again by my boss for A. not looking like i want to be at work (lol) and B. Opening a can of beans for a snack with my IZULA and then proceeding to use my HEST as the spoon in which to eat the beans...

Sh*t . I even got yelled at by EVERYONE for mixing drinks with my ESEE 5 at the staff christmas party and then leaving early because i couldnt resist the urge of building an A frame shelter and a nice fire behind the shop out of pallets and garbage...

Yep...

Hello. My name is Gaurdian_A1
I hate my job and would rather spend my time out in the bush or on this forum
I am misunderstood by everyone at work, but i dont give a f*ck ( lol)
I can find a reason to bring any one of my ESEE's to work
My boss yells at me for this.
My boss once saw my ESEE 3 sitting on my work belt while on a jobsite and he asked me why i needed to have a knife like that on me all the time...i promptly told him it was a terrorist mitigation device....he then yelled at me more and told me " i was done for the day and needed time off" I thanked him profusely because i was then able to go out into the bush where i am happy.

but you know what the dirty truth of it all is?

I need the job i hate, to buy the knives and gear i love.

*sigh*

i hope this post made you laugh, try to have a good day at work!

-G1

PS: when i find a way to get paid for doing nothing at all, you all will be the first to know.

I hope i didnt hurt anyones feelings with this post. LOL

That was awesome! I just got the old Disney movie Swiss Family Robinson for Christmas. I haven't watched it since I was a kid. I watched it the other day again, and I was jealous of them! I was actually sitting here thinking " how awesome would it be to be stuck on an Island".

I agree work sucks!

If it makes you feel better I'm planning to go make a pot of coffee and play with the dog. I was planning on going hiking today but in 36 hours all the snow melted off and we got 2 inches of rain. So much for sitting on a snow bank, making a nice fire and some lunch with coffee.

No need to apologize I totally understand where your coming from! sya this all the time!

DAMN I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT IN THE BUSH AGAIN!!!!

Wow goodmorning. Maybe you could think of some way to be self employed. A hunting or fishing guide. I know you have got alot of wilderness in BC. And knives are tools of the trade.

I completely feel your pain! At least your place of employment doen't have "zero tolerance" policy on weapons. If I were to reveal that I have anything bigger than my Izula on me at work I would be escorted off the premesis by security(thank goodness we don't have metal detectors). At first glance this sounds like a good thing but like most of us here I need my job to support my hobbies.

Well as long as you are working to live and not living to work, you will be ok.

Mixing a drink with an ESEE-5 will get you some negative attention just about anywhere you do that though. :p

I think most of us would rather be getting paid to do something we love, and even then we will still find things to bitch and complain about.

ie Jeff gets paid to run around in the jungle, design knives, write articles, take pictures, and he is still bitches every now and then. Allthough I think his biggest problem is chasing married women...

your boss is an uptight prick, but i'd suggest maintaining a lower profile at work and not pissing off the man with the power to send you home for the day or terminate you for some BS reason.

we've all got mouths to feed and bills to pay. it's far easier to hunt for a job when you actually have a job. i'd suggest discretely starting to hunt for a new job that won't freak out over a little knife with a 3" blade.

buuut i know how you feel, i've had days where i would have paid them to let me take the day off!

I was planning on going hiking today but in 36 hours all the snow melted off and we got 2 inches of rain. So much for sitting on a snow bank, making a nice fire and some lunch with coffee.

Same dude! No more snow!:(

Good read. Very amusing.
On my previous job, I got in trouble with my boss for carrying a Spyderco Pacific Salt. He asked me if I had a knife to help him open a package or some shit. Then I received a letter in the mail, from management, that says I carry a "deadly weapon" that my job does NOT require me to have.
I quit the next day, after almost ripping the boss' Adam's apple with my bare hands. That was a lot of fun....
We got a lot of scum bags out there, that just hate life and want other people to suffer at least as they do. F@(K 'em!!

Well Holy Shee -it ! I feel the same way about my Job buddy :foot::eek:

I want to quit my SFJ this year and get out of my trade completely. That's my New Year's resolution. Wish me luck:rolleyes:

You got caBun fever dude :(. You and I and others need some serious bush ,lol.
I was wondering when you were gonna SNAP :grumpy:;):grumpy:
I don't flash more than a 3" pos pocketknife at work. Even that freaks them out. Can you imagine an Esee 3 ? Junglas ? Out of the question. These guys are so knife-clueless , it's not even funny. It's a woodworking shop and they don't even carry a pencil and tape measure. Always borrowing mine; you know the type :grumpy:

The ONLY way we gonna be happy again is to be in the bush with Mamma Nature and steel on our side. Our refuge from this abomination called " civilization."

Glad to hear your OK ( I guess:confused:) lol !
Best to the family unit for 2011. Stay in touch Brotha :)

Fear not.

It's just a natural, entirely human reaction to tension -- the tension between where we come from and where we find ourselves today.

None of us is immune from this tension, and it has caused a lot of bizarre, counterproductive behavior. Your own behavior is pretty benign, by comparison.;)

I am a highly (over?) trained scientist, retired military officer, and agency rat. You should see the stares I get!

Most of that post is true, but I didn't take the junglas to work lol. The reason for my post this morning was to give everyone a good laugh before work lol

Look at the bright side: Rain doesnt stack like snow does :)

I actualy like my job, im not fond of working as it costs so much free time.
The job i do though is real fun, taking care of machines, working shifts. Not all too busy

It must be tough to not get out in nature once and a while but you have to be thankful for a job. I lost my job in the downturn and live next to the back country in the Kootenays and get out there a couple of times a week, kayaking in summer, hiking in fall and now snowshoeing. Too old for retraining and getting hired anywhere so have a lot of stress about maintaining what i have which are just the basics. I'd be happy to give up some of my time in nature for some work and income. It all comes down to balance. Now will i take the shoulder off my RC4 today Mmmmm.
