I drank the kool aid x2! (how'd I do?) NEW PICS 12/1 on pg2

That Large Regular is nice. I seriously thought about getting that one if it's from another forum I'm on a lot. You're pictures really do it justice.

Enjoy!

Thanks man. I recognize the screen name so I do believe it's the same one you're thinking of.

So I sent the large off for the spa, a sandblasting, and an additional new pocket clip.

I have a rookie question for you CRK pros out there - I noticed on the large that there are small grooves that run down the spine on the small flat edges. These aren't on the small one I have. Is that something that is on all larges or just the older models? I really like the look and added texture of that.

Sorry I mailed it off without snapping a pic of it first. But y'all are experts I'm sure you know what I'm talking about ;)

I'm sure the experts will chime in, but I just pulled my large 21 out of my pocket (newer one) and it has no grooves.

There are some frames with those and some with out. It seems to usually be associated with a BG-42 blade but you will see S30V blades in that style of handle as well IIRC. CRK make little changes here and there through the life of the knives production so there are alwayas little differences to spot.

Great thanks for the info. I was just curious.

You do have a somewhat rare and collectable knife there but enjoy it and use it like it was meant to be. I carry and use mine and have found it to be, as mentioned, probably the best folder I have ever owned.

Yeah, I plan to. I really can't wait to see how it looks after it gets back from its trip to the spa.

Great! I wish I could find a regular! I had both a large and small years ago and still kick myself for letting them go.

The large regular came back from CRK this week! And holy cow does it look fantastic!

And I really have to give their customer service a huge round of applause. They answered all my (probably annoying) questions in record time and took great care of me. I even told them I wasn't the original owner and I really have to give them credit for standing by their product like that for whoever owns it.

Its now one of the sharpest knives I own, is smooth as butter to open, and looks fantastic after they cleaned and re-blasted the handles. Even threw a new lanyard on it for me!

I'll post a pic or two when I get a chance later on.

Also - interesting turn of events - they gave me a new "reissued" info card and box for the knife. On the card it states that its a S30V blade. So the previous owner must've been mistaken as to the blade steel on this knife. Oh well, I've had excellent experiences with S30V, not really a problem for me!

A very VERY satisfied CRK owner here. I can almost guarantee I'll be purchasing a knife directly from them sometime after this experience.

My small BG42 Regular, that I purchased here on the Exchange recently has that same cutout out on the outside of the lockbar as well as the grooves around the edges of the scales. Mine is a lefty which must make it fairly rare. I've had it on me since I got it--my favorite CRK ever. I love the two tone finish on the blade--polished on the hollow ground area, matte on the flats.

Ok, have to ask, I know you have a regular and were told it was BG-42 and then find out from the home office it is S30V. How is a BG-42 blade marked? Thanks

Take a look at the inside of the scale from the opening side, and see if you can read what's stamped there. Should be something like B99.

I was able to snap some pics tonight of my newly improved Regular Sebenza w/ Swedge. CRK did a bang up job on this. I snapped some pictures of the more unique features on this one that I haven't seen around much...

ALSO - don't mind the dirty shirt backdrop. I did this on our kitchen table. That becomes my safety net for my wife not to yell at me when "playing with my toys" at the table ;)

Here's everything:
I added a new style clip to it because I like the "bump" in it. But I retained the original one as well. The info card does say S30V but the inside of the scales say '99. So I'm not sure there. According to the one thread BG42 was used from '96-'02 and S30V began in '02. Either way...

This shows the cut out as well but also a neat view of the swedge:

That's really strange, they weren't using S30V yet. Must be a reissued blade sometime after Chris switched steels.

A BG-42 blade isn't marked, the S30V blades have an "S" on them under or just about under the washer though.

oh really? Well I just took this one apart quick this morning and there is no S on either side of the blade. No marking whatsoever. So perhaps it is, in fact, BG42? I guess I should email CRK and ask...

sorry for crappy phone pics but I was in the midst of getting ready for work...
