I dunno how to think about it...

I don't see anything wrong with this because I don't suspect he's doing it for profit. I think everyone who's firing off emails to Jerry should settle down a bit.

If he's just tinkering and playing hobby I can't see much wrong other than the talon hole issue. Hell, if I had any desire to try to build a knife I would probably end up trying to copy a familiar, comfortable blade that I admired. I just wouldn't be too ambitious about showing it off.
Just build it, use it , and see how well you done.

If your gonna clone a Busse why a BATAC???? that is an a$$load of work:thumbdn:

clone a SHBM...make it worth yer while at least;)

I agree, the dude should not have drilled the Talon Hole and he should paint it bright pink or something:D.... just so everyone knows it is a "tribute" knife

I think it's safer to say "if it ever leaves his hands" regardless of how. if I found that knife, I would assume it was a busse, and if I sold it I would sell it as a busse, and if I broke it I would seek out busse as the maker. I would also post any user experiences with it (unsharpenability, breakage) here stating the knife was a busse. no one would be able to say different until jerry got it in his hands and could say otherwise. theres a big downward spiral of things that could happen with that kind of thing.

Exactly! :grumpy:

Sheesh. You guys need to get out more. LOL

Consider it the sincerest form of flattery. I'm pretty sure Jerry does.

Ya, I said it. I meant it too. If you gotta problem with that, talk to Sam about it.:D

I have to way, that is a dandy copy for a hand filed bevel. I assume it is hand filed. That is a lot of work. I cut my first home made knife out of 5160 with a mini hack saw and hand filed the bevels. Lots of work. Took me much longer than 20 hours I have to tell you!

You need to photo chop a photo of Samuel where his mouth is open, or moving open and closed to make that even funnier!

I pretty much agree, if someone wants to make a knife which is a copy of a known design for personal use and not to sell, then I don't see a problem. :D

Silly man, Jerry already tried Vascowhatever, if it was better we wouldn't be INFI hogs,we'd be Vasco-hogs. :)

Yowza!!!! . . . . Thanks for the heads up guys.

Nice to see that he is being honest about it and giving us the design credit.

As long as someone is making a knife for their own personal use and not resale, there's not much to be done about it.

As for Vascowear. . . Man, that is some miserable steel to work with, and I have to raise a glass to anyone who makes a knife out of it with hand tools only. . . . . It can make for a really long lasting edge, but is VERY difficult to resharpen without power tools. It's fairly rust resistant but greatly lacks in the toughness/impact resistance category when compared to INFI. Overall though, it's a really good steel for a thin edged EDC that is not designed for taking an enormous amount of abuse. It should make for a really nice knife. I have also found it very difficult to get a high polish on. . . It always looks a little cloudy to me . . . Of course, I am not the world's greatest buffer either.

So far it looks like he's doing a really nice job! I hope this fella drinks, because if not, working Vascowear by hand could drive him to it! :D

Let's drink!!!

Jerry :D
