...or, given that I'm still working on my first blades, at least a little presumptous in offering advice on this forum . However, this is something that worked for me and I pass it along in hopes that it will benifit some other newbie. After struggling with several plunge cuts I wanted a file guide. Impatient and broke, I devised this and it works great.

I'd be interested in seeing other alternative tool solutions.

very interesting , I own a few flaring tool blocks and never thought of that . I ended up spending a 1/2 day making a file guide .
