I feel weird...

I'm kind of going up and down here. I got my tax money in, and got swept up in all the knife excitement. Was thinking "Man, I'm going to buy this knife, and this knife, and OHHHH DEFINITELY THIS KNIFE"...I bought my first real knife, a Griptilian, and got Cuscadi to make a scaleset for me and pimped it out. Is it weird that I only want this one knife? I feel like, being a part of this community, 90% of you guys buy knives, collect them, trade them, and generally have owned multiple knives at the same time and in an EDC rotation. I've tried to get on board mentally, and have almost pulled the trigger on several more knives and got all excited about it...But when I really thought about it, I love my Grip, and see no practical use in having 5 blades on EDC rotation. I just want to have this knife and take care of it and use it till' it's dead.

Is that weird?

It all comes down to personal preference.

I don't think it's weird that you only enjoy one knife.

Who knows, that may change down the road.

I personally collect and use all my knives, no safe queens here.

I also have a very large EDC rotation, which includes some expensive blades(Sebenza 21, Strider SnG, etc).

I just love knives and there are just SO many I wanna own lol.

Nah a lot of ppl just go through knives trying to find their holy grail of perfection they always get a knife that sets their standards then if the next knife they get doesn't beat that they sell it move to the next if you are happy with the grip then just take care of it and enjoy.

Either one of two things happened. Either you found your "grail" knife (ie: One that you're content with) or you're just not that into knives.

I think this is well put..........can't really say i have any experience with the bold text:D

Its fine that your comforable with that as your EDC the Grip is a very good blade to go with, but for me every knife has a diffrent purpose for me, my hunting, my combat, my edc, ect... I guess thats why I have so many....

You only have to be interested in knives to be a knife person no matter what any else says. The number of blades you own means nothing, as long as you are happy with the one you have.

That's the thing though, I AM into knives...I've been drooling over tons of knives for a while now. I have looked at kershaw's whole line and wanted to get every one of them. I would kill to have a Grayman Dua, or the new 0777. I also really want to buy a few cheap knives like the skyline, Blur, Leek, some spydies. But then I look down and pull my Grip out of my pocket and think...meh, I don't want to get a new one until this one is used up.

Maybe I'm just stingy :bi_polo:

Thanks 9blades, oh yea you have NOOO experience with the knives in bold lolol.

To the OP, just enjoy your Grip for now and see what the future brings.

Maybe you'll end up pulling the trigger on another knife to start a carry rotation.

I LOVE having the ability to carry different blades each and every day.

Trust me once you start a rotation you won't wanna stop buying new knives lol.

But hey the Dua is a great choice and I say GO FOR IT! :D

I have a pretty small collection compared to a lot of people.

Right now I have:
Case Stockman
Case Trapper
Two Vintage Case Sod Busters
Kershaw Brawler
Kershaw Clash
Kershaw Chill
Sypderco Native
Leatherman

I don't think I paid more than $40 for any of them.

I like the knives I have and while right now I don't see any more that I want, I just chalk that up to not running into the right one yet. Knives are like women, a lot of them are pretty but it doesn't mean they're all keepers.

I use to have my one blade. A lovely Spyderco Stretch in VG10. There was no wondering which one should I carry. Then I got my

ZT 350
ZT 550
Spyderco Meerkat
CRK LG Sebenza
Ontario Rat 1
Soon to be Spyderco Brad Southard

I actually miss having my one well used knife to depend on. My love is starting to be spread too thin! I am enjoying stepping back and carrying my rat 1 to regain the "go to knife" feeling.

I have several knives but I don't really rotate. I have one that is my go-to and a couple others if the situation dictates something else but usually I have just one that I carry. I went years and years only having one EDC knife and it was fine. Within the last few years I've started accumulating more EDC knives and even with the small amount I have I could probably live the rest of my days never having to buy another knife and just going to the shelf and grabbing a different one if something happened to the one I was carrying. But that's no fun! If nothing else the ones that sit around collecting dust for years make good gifts for those friends that carry useless cheap knives or people always asking to borrow you knife.

Nah, I'm the same way. I've carried a SAK and an Izula everyday for a long time. I don't need anything else so i dont buy anything else.

Of course i own other knives that get used regularly for different chores and whatnot, but i very very rarely (read: never) buy more than 1 knife that serves the same purpose.

@OP

Everyone is different dude.

It's some peoples jam to have a big variety of blades, that's what excites them about collecting.

Some people are more basic in their knife collecting, and that's equally as OK.

Different strokes for different folks, nuff said.

P.S. - I just got my first bm mini-grip today, and I love it, and I just bought an Ontario RAT 1 w/Coyote Brown G10 handle with my tax return

Benchmade makes a great knife, they also have a great waranty. If you ever take advantage of that waranty you won't see your Grip for a few weeks. Reason enough for two right there.:D

I think you've found a grove a lot of us have hoped for and not found, congrats!

(honestly my first thought was See, it can be done!" right before I opened up the exchange in the next tab :))
