I feel weird...

Be glad you are enjoying what you have, you will save a lot of money and have more fun in the process. But don't be too surprised if you end up getting "just one more"! Just keep on using them...

meh, I don't want to get a new one until this one is used up.

I guess you have the correct username. You'll be old before "this one is used up."

Yes, we all seem to have favorites, which certainly can change from one day to the next. Mine are Spyderco PM2's, Striders, Sebenzas, and the Grayman DUA you mentioned. We use one a while, and after the glow wears off, we can tell whether it's really up to our expectations. Which is why I go thru a lot of folders. Buy one, trade one, buy one...

Do what puts a smile on your face. There is no right answer.

However, if you find yourself moving toward a "collector" mentality, then it would be well advised to figure out what you are collecting, because the world of knives is quite large, and you can quickly amass a large collection only to realize that you have more of an accumulation than a collection. My advice is to try to refine it to one type, be it yellow handles, benchmades, customs, fixed, traditional, etc. I guess it's like stamps or coins, there's just a lot of ways you can take the hobby and you kind of have to figure it out yourself.

not at all, alot of people dont see the need for several blades...... most of us here are blade boaster and we just like our knives and want to brag about having the latest, greatest, and/or most unique knives. you are one of the lucky ones who CAN buy just one knife and walk away

Sounds to me like you still need a fixed blade! ...and a backup folder for if you lose the Grip... and a more loseable traveling folder... and a stouter fixed blade... and a tomahawk. Man there are some sweet tomahawks goin round.

Knives are like women, a lot of them are pretty but it doesn't mean they're all keepers.

My friends and I always joke "Always marry an ugly girl, 'cuz that's the only kind. She'll never ever leave you, and if she does, you won't mind!" ;)
I don't have all that many knives, but I still can't carry all of them at once so I always miss the pretty ones I'm not carrying. If you just have one or two knives you love to use, you won't feel like you're missing anything.

....that being said, I still think you're weird :D

You are not stingy. You are someone that clearly knows what is 'need' vs 'want'. Some got confused, some really have the need for different purpose (hunting, fishing, woodworking, food prep, etc).

Realistically, like me, an urban dweller with light use, I actually only need one. However, I EDC 4, simply because it brings me the enjoyment, even though mostly I only use one of them & it got to the point of full edge reprofile+polish to where I like it. The rest not yet catching up, due to less use = less maintained.

As long as you're happy, it doesn't matter. Congrats of finding your one.

Some people buy only as many knives as they need for use, and only buy new ones when they want to retire or replace them. I carry a pm2 and will carry it til it breaks, then prob try something different on for size. I'm also thinking that after a couple years I may be bored and want something to rotate it with.

I started off with a huge Smith & Wesson and Camillus folder when I was 16. I carried them for about 8 years. Then came my assisted opening fetish that consisted of two Gerber blades. That spring toy fling lasted for two years. After bad experiences with poor edge holding, weight, broken springs, customer service, lose blades, poor locking... I wanted a better knife.

I did hundreds of hours of reading and watching, it's how I found this abyss of knife knowledge. I ordered a Griptilian and Endura 4 (blue) and OMG I entered the bottom end of the upper class. Since then, about 5 months ago, I have escalated my knife knowledge search to the extreme. Each day I spend at least one hour knifing online. I have been so far as to entering credit card info into bladehq for a Sebenza 21 but just didn't do it. I have thought about tons of other Spyderco and Benchmade knives. Super steels are great and need less work but just don't excite me. VG-10 and 154CM work for MY needs. Plus, I love sharpening so it's not an issue at all.

My point is that these two knives are all I want. I could easily drop $500 on cool blades and not look back. Para 2's, Contego's, a Sothard, CRK's... they are great quality and awesome but they just won't bring me more happiness. We are alike in that we don't see the point of so many knives. I love my Endura and can't stand the thought of it not being in my left (handedness of genus) pocket! I am skilled with it. I can open it, manipulate it and maneuver it with ease. If I bought all the knives desired then I might try to open or close it wrong.

Knives to me are like wives. I picked one after careful choice and I'm sticking with it! I will not part with the Endura. The Griptilian sits beside my couch and gets flicked out a lot, but that's its role.

The problem I have is I'm trying to find the absolute perfect knife for me :D I envy the fact that your one Griptilian can work so perfectly for you. Honestly this is the greatest hobby/interest ever but I wish I could find that "perfect" knife, the closest I've ever gotten would be my Opinel #8:

This is still the perfect knife for me in every way shape and form...except one...minor...detail...the blade is too thin :grumpy: I have an uncontrollable fear or snapping the blade, and though this knife is super cheap and easy to buy I would be crushed if I snapped a blade, or tip, on my perfect knife, so I have since become enamored with the Sodbuster knife:

A pretty close second to my "perfect knife", and I've since decided that if I were to pick my grail knife that I would never want another knife over, a custom Sodbuster would be it :D

Now just to find the courage to spend 400+ on a custom slip-joint...

I definitely feel the love for the Griptilian. Next to my Endura, it is my most used larger knife. That's only because I have to use the Endura when I work in the freezer because the lockback is easier on the gloves. However, I got mine 10 months after my knife addiction began, so I already had the desire to buy and buy and buy. Also, I find myself using my smaller knives more (mostly Delica, UK Pen Knife, Flash I, Meerkat) because I don't want to freak out the sheeple. If I had to pick a grail knife, I think it would be the Endura, with the Griptilian closely behind

No its not weird at all. I have close to 30 knives in my 2 cases right now, I've owned 50+ or something. I have 2 main edc blades i switch between Para 2 and Ritter Grip I have a CRKT M16 for a beater blade and my mostly used Victorinox's and I always drop my Squirt in my pocket, plus all my non knife edc. I carry a lot of junk with me. I hardly use it all but everytime I didn't have something is when I needed it so I just always carry it all. Every once in a while I'll throw one of the other knives in my edc but the next day or sometimes halfway through the day I go back to the pm2 or grip.

I actually did the same, I got my tax return and had so much to spend on whatever and I had shopping carts full all over the web but I only bought a Microtech UTX-70 and Its cool but not my favorite knife I do use it without exception even being the most expensive blade I own though. I have cheaper blades i baby more. Now that I find weird.

I have been looking at a 707 sequel for a while, but I'm always like...I have a ritter...Or a new spyderco I'm like..but...para 2...idk if i should..then after I contemplate I just don't buy the knife. I want all the knives I see but I agree with you, there no need to have a million knives if you're only going to use a few of them. The ones I don't use though aren't exactly knives anyone else would really want unless I sell them for less than it would cost to ship it, and thats just not cost effective because most of the knives aren't worth shipping + $5 anymore because I USE my cheap knives. I could use them for random giveaways on here every now and then though. It would be the nice thing to do. I mean who doesn't want a free knife.

I'm kind of going up and down here. I got my tax money in, and got swept up in all the knife excitement. Was thinking "Man, I'm going to buy this knife, and this knife, and OHHHH DEFINITELY THIS KNIFE"...I bought my first real knife, a Griptilian, and got Cuscadi to make a scaleset for me and pimped it out. Is it weird that I only want this one knife? I feel like, being a part of this community, 90% of you guys buy knives, collect them, trade them, and generally have owned multiple knives at the same time and in an EDC rotation. I've tried to get on board mentally, and have almost pulled the trigger on several more knives and got all excited about it...But when I really thought about it, I love my Grip, and see no practical use in having 5 blades on EDC rotation. I just want to have this knife and take care of it and use it till' it's dead.

Is that weird?
"Fear the man who has but one gun and knows how to use it."

Not weird at all.

Not weird. But I'd think about getting one back-up, maybe another grip, so if you need to have it serviced you will have another at hand.

I'm toying with getting a Ritter mini-grip with Orange scales, and maybe find someone who can do CF scales for it.
