I Finally Bit The Bullet - Got A Gayle Bradley

Just got a new Gayle Bradley and it's without a doubt exceptional. I love how it feels in my hand. Perfect heft... like any good tool, it weighs exactly as much as it should.

I also just got a Bradley and so far it is just AMAZING!

It is bigger, tougher and more detailed than I imagined it would be and has the best "Feel" overall of any knife that I have so far.

Now I just need to get it out and abuse it a little and see how that goes.

They still running the steel extra hard on these?

Only thing I know that's changed is the first run or so did not have milled out liners, resulting in slightly more weight.

I bought mine LNIB at a gun show last weekend. I didn't know until I read this that there was a difference in the liners. It looks like I have an older specimen with solid liners.

my main problem with the GB is the handle shape. it reminds me of something that's alive. of course, it won't matter once i'm holding the knife and using it, but if i get one, it'll probably go straight to a customizer.

I like the handle because of the palm swell towards the back and the finger cutouts on the bottom. And the knife has some thickness to it for a secure grip. Maybe I like it because of my large hands. The spyder hole is high for great thumb control on the jimped part when making a cut. I've only had it for a few weeks but it gets a daily workout, so far I haven't needed to sharpen it.

The GB will definitely be my next folder once my Military obsession dies down and I get my kids their x-mas gifts. But posts like these sure make it hard to wait.

,

One of the forum members had a mint used one for sale for $75, that's about half of new. Maybe Santa would put it in your Christmas stocking if you have been good.

Yer killin' me Gator. I . . . must . . . resist . . . !!!

I think I'll go browse the exchange.

I've had my eye on the Gayle Bradley for awhile as well. Finally took the plunge last week on a promo at the big river. The knife came in yesterday and wow, it's really something. Haven't really had the occasion to use it much yet (been looking for stuff to cut all day, LOL) but the build quality, fit/finish, and ergonomics are awe-inspiring. Spyderco really hit a home run with this one.

I just picked one of these up this week and wow! Much more solid than I expected with bank vault like lock-up. Compares very nicely with my Large Sebenzas and Hinderer 3.5 slicer. I'm going to use it this week and see if I want to force a patina.

No one around me has that knife and the only way to feel it or see it is to buy it , but i think after xmass Gayle Bradley and Southard will knock on my door and a winner will stay in my pocket.

I Have never owned a southard, but I must say the GB is a great knife. It has become one of my favorites. No other knife I own can cut like the GB does.

very tempted by this knife. My main nitpick is the Carbon Fiber/G-10 Laminate scales. Give me one or the other. If I'm getting the slight heft of g10 over carbon fiber might as well get the grippiness of G10 on top too. Though not my cup of tea full carbon fiber would've been fine too. Like I said it's a nitpick :p.

It's actually quite grippy in my opinion. Although, I think the knife would be great in an all black g10 also.

The Gayle Bradley is an awesome knife:thumbup:

The quality, fit and finish is up there with knives like the sebenza!
I even see some similarities of the GB and a Sebbie,
-they both have that "bank vault" feel
-they both use a pivot bushing
-they both have impeccable fit & finish

These knives were meant to work, and work hard! Although the GB falls short with its carbon steel blade, that can be remedied by forcing a patina. With a forced patina, it requires significantly less maintenance IMO.
