I finally figured it all out.

After years of high-end folders and fixed blades, my interest lately has turned to....... pocket knives! Yes, the Case Texas Toothpick in Key Lime or Red Bone, or the Boker Copperhead or Trapperliner in stag, or a nice little German Eye mini-Trapper.

What will I do with them? Oh, I suppose carry one for a few days, then a different one, and so on, like I do with the others. I suppose APF has it about right.....why let logic interfere?

once something turns into a hobby;
it's on to the fast track of impulsive buying.
for what's it worth, the chosen path must lead to somewhere, right?
nobody just simply stops this one-way journey without outside help or interference.
seriously, does anyone ever have a game plan?
disposing sure helps solve the problems of over accumalation and the burden of guilt :-)

I do not feel guilty for not using the knives I have bought. I would certainly like to use them now and then, but no feeling of guilt. So I am slowing down a bit at the moment - I am sure have now more than a hundred of fixed blade and folders... But I do not even think about stopping my knife collecting and going after something else! That would be a disaster - all over again, with that starting frenzy... No, thank you! Knives are relatively simple and not particulary expensive - compared to some other collectible objects. A good choice for hobby in my opinion. Well done myself! ;)

I think we all need something - and the way I see it - knife collecting is a safe and passive hobby.

Most of my collection still has value and can be sold if I need money, they can be passed down to the kids or given away, and it keeps me out of trouble.

There could be a lot worse ways I could spend my time and money.

I'm at the point with my collecting that I know what I like in a knife, so it does limit what I buy.
