I find Strider knives to be silly.. I don't get the popularity. Enlighten me.

I was browsing Strider knives at an on line retailer and saw the following:

1. A tiger stripe blade folder with flames on the frame lock. lol
2. A camo tanto with paracord wrap
3. A tiger stripe karambit with "ranger green" handles

Heck, you can even get a strider zippo with the ace of spades and a skull. Lol

Now, they are far too expensive for 12 year olds that play CoD, so who buys this fluff?

Armchair commandos? I'm sure some have strong opinions to justify the prices of these knives.

What is the draw?

I mean come on.. They have a picture of a S.W.A.T. looking guy in a face mask with an M16 and holding a knife. Lol

If you don't like Striders, then don't buy one and move on to the knives (and zippos, etc.) that you like.

Otherwise try your trolling elsewhere. ;)

I don't own a Strider but I certainly understand the draw; they're pretty rad-looking-yet-utilitarian tools which are made to fairly high tolerances. They're built like tanks and there's a lot to be said for individual asthetics.
But what probably stops me from buying one is the same thing which always stops me from hard using my fav Sebenza- it's pricey and I just can't seem to make myself put it through it's paces because of what it costs and how I might devalue it by hard use. A little light handling is all that Sebenza seems to get even though I know it's designed to work harder.
I think if I spent the dough for a Strider I probably wouldn't use it much.
A paradox?

You have to be selective and know what you want when buying a Strider.

I owned an SMF for a while but sold it to get a custom SMF, but turned out I babied the custom too much to use it...a knife I don't use is a knife I don't need so I sold that one, too.
In the end the only Strider I own is a fixed MT.

Both SMFs I got were very nicely builty, no off-center blade or any issues and they certainly don't look "LOL" in person.

I agreed that some Strider stuff can be a little over-the-top but I do want to defend Starlingear, their beads are exceptional and are recoganized on an international level, the silliness comes not from the bead but those who think it's silly.

I get a Strider and the 1st thing I do is got cut stuff with it to get some scratches on it, after that it's easy to use them.

I buy them to use, I have Spydercos that don't get the use that my Striders do.

Would rather invest in a Hinderer
Haven't touched my XM-18 in months. I also find myself wanting an SmF. It's just the rumors of fit and finish issues and an unreachable customer service are watering my enthusiasm. I also can't think of another knife that has that interesting handle design.

i don't understand why anyone would pay so much for basic steel. Knifetests show there not better then other knives which are cheaper, they're slicing ability looks about as excellent as a sharpened crobar, and cold steel copied one of there designs and called it a G.I tanto, it cuts better because it is a better profile, it survived knifetests and got a good rating, and it sells for $23 at knifecenter.

Strider - PERFECT KNIVES FOR PERFECT SUBURBAN MERCENARIES EVERYWHERE!

I guess you have owned how many............ Please enlighten us with your wisdom and vast experience with Striders.

Or you are believing what you have read someplace else.

That's old and long dead....

Has nothing to do with the knives they make and the quality.

I disagree. A mans character has a lot to do with the products he sells. How did it turn out? Was he legit or not? If he was then I thinks it's great. If not then what does that say..

You really sound like a troll that is trying way too hard to start something here.....
