I flew a plane!!!!

Some years ago, when I was heavily into flight-sims, the wife and kids sprung for me to take one of those "Warbirds" flights in an A6 "Texan" trainer.
One of those deals where the real pilot takes off and lands, and you get to actually control the aircraft for about an hour.
Great exeperience! I still have a videotape and a number of photos, I'll see if I can dig 'em up.
 
If I were young all over again I would have gotten my pilots license and would have flown bush camp flights and fly for the fire service. If you are young and have the itch to fly, do it my friend, for life is short and the gray hair and pains of aging quickly follow.

Man, this brings back memories!

I studied aviation mechanics in high school and our junior year class project was to tear down and rebuild a Piper Cub. It was an open air two seater.

I rebuilt the magnetos, bored the cylinder heads, and fabric covered the wings.

After it was put back together, the instructors took each kid involved in the project on a 30 minute flight and gave us the control. Coolest thing in the world flying 120mph in an open cockpit.
 
Growing up, my neighbor had a plane. He used it to move stolen merchandise as part of his long time career. Learning to fly definitely opens up options for your future.

It's got something to do with camera shutter speed, prop speed, etc. I read an explanation of it somewhere, and I can't even pretend to understand it.

Here's a video of a Russian Bear bomber, and you can see the distortion of the props. Start at about 1:21.
