I finally got a chance to look at and fondle some knives I've been considering for some time. I didn't buy any but just the pleasure of talking with the salesman and being able to feel before you buy was awesome!
The benchmade mini grip felt really good in the hand and may be my next purchase.
If you're in Saratoga, NY check out ye old gift shoppe in wilton mall.
No spyderco, though:(
They did have:
Benchmade, kershaw, sog and some other cheaper ones like s&w and schrade. But schrade surprised me, the knife I felt had a nice feel to it.
Something I'd never know online!

What's up Sharpy just found a knife shop not far from me didn't even know it was there nice to be able to check out a blade before you buy it . They must know I am up to something I go in there and handle a few blades but never buy anything still cheaper to buy online.

I have spent $20-30 more for multiple things from a couple of my local places because of that reason alone. I do not like buying things without being able to actually looking at them and I am willing to pay a premium for that. Once I lost my second Grip I was willing to get it online because I felt I had payed my dues on that one.

Brick and mortar stores have a lot more overhead and I feel it is worth it to pay more for the ability to check out different knives all at once. Not having to deal with shipping back and forth or trying to resell something is well worth the extra cost to me.

I hear ya legion. That mini grip was $100 at the store. I will buy it there though. Only $15 more than online and I can see it and know that the blade is centered and everything is up to my strict standards.
Here in NY it's tough to find any store that carries a decent knife. Maybe the new Walmart, they're building around here might have one, lol.

How you been? The mark up at the store by me is pretty high if I do order online I make sure its someone with a good reputation and have never had any problems. Surprisingly I gone past this place dozens of times thought they only sold kitchen knives they have it all including Spydercos

Jeez...you couldn't post his on Friday??? Was in the Adirondacks all weekend...could have stopped over on the way back down!

Sorry eldoesq I just went today.
Legion you're in Chicago aren't you? I figured your laws would be worse than mine, lol. I thought NY law was the reason for no stores. Maybe there's just not enough knife nuts like us near me. :(

That's what surprised me half the knives they carry aren't legal to carry here but they are selling them.
