I have always liked knives. I saved and saved for my first, Buck 110. Since finding this site I have had hundreds of knives always looking for "The One".
I have had Sebenzas, Spydies, Microtechs, Bladetechs, White Wolves, Lone Wolves, Bucks, MODs, Gerbers, William Henerys, Benchmades, Customs, and so on and on. There have been a few that I thought were "it", but just didn't fit the bill.
I have a little White Wolf Pocket Pro that I love and won't get rid of(unless someone wants to trade me a naked lady one...which I doubt). I have a Spyderco DODO which I use when working around the house sometimes. I have a BM 705 KOTM (alum. handles) which is a beater now that will be around forever.
Then I got a Mini grip. This was the closest to the perfect knife for me. Smooth to operate, easy yo sharpen and highly replacable. I use it constantly. My only wish was better handle material (I don't mind it, but when I think of all the knives I have had i just wanted something better).

Well today it arrived. It is here and I am done. I will keep and use the keepers I listed above, but my holy grail has arrived for one hundred and five dollars delivered.

Today I got a H & K (Benchmade) 14210. It is the Mini Grip of my dreams.
It feels like my Grip with better handles, sexier looking blade, better washers, and a slightly better feel in my hands. It does not open as smothly, but I think it will loosen up with time. There are no other requirements that I can think of. I am sure I will lurk, but I honestly cannot think of a knife ot there that would be more to my liking.

I hope this did not bore you all and I want to give my heart felt thank you to the wonderful people on this site who I have dealt with and learned so much from. You all rock. Peace to all and stay safe!

Aloha,
Josh

Nice! Interesting though, I was just commenting to my wife tonight how my mini grip (556) is a bit small for my hands. Kind of clumsy to close mostly. Love it otherwise. I was thinking of getting something a bit bigger - maybe try a Spyderco of some kind of a larger Grip. My Boker Trance is a bit more comfortable to handle, but a bit more awkward to pocket carry because of the width.

Guess you are lucky to have found the perfect knife for you!

Can you swap out a normal benchmade pocket clip for the spade design found on the 14210? That thing is ugly as Rosie O'Donnell on a meth bender.

Wow, the 14210 is that incredible? It's tempting, but I still want to wait for the 14205. . .

Yeah, I've been "done" a few dozen times myself. If you've TRULY found THE ONE, I am very envious of you.
I go thru the boxes of knives in the safe now and again and think to myself, "Yep, I was done after I got this one, and that one, and oh wait(!), I remember this one. I thought for sure I was done after this one."

I've thrown up my hands in sheer frustration at this point and have not bought a new knife in over a year now. So, in a manner of speaking, I guess you could say I'm done too. :D

No, This is it. Also, of all the knives I 've owned, this one appears the best enginered with the most perfect tolerances. Better than my Sebbies (no flame intended)

Well, now I am envious of you. ;) Congrats!

I've got a 14210 on the way. Now I'm looking forward to receiving it even more!
The 14205 is going to be great too.

Nothing beats the Axis Lock BMs.

Congrats. However, you know that you are never really 'done.' I hope to hear from you in a few months or so.

Mike:D

I too have always wanted a Mini-grip with G-10. The BM 14210 fits the bill, but the only thing that has held me back from it is the fact that it doesn't have a lanyard hole. I use to never use one, until recently, and now, I cant have a knife without one. Glad that you like the 14210, everytime I'm at the local store or the gun show I always have to play with one.

For those that want the Bm 14205, it is NOT a bigger version of the 14210. The scales have a much different texture to them.

Aloha,
Josh

I applaud you and I hope it is for real. I would love to have found "the knife" and then be done. I never thought I would end up on an endless quest for "the knife" that doesn't seem to exist.

I need to give this quest up.

You'll be ba-aaack! Once bitten, I think the knife bug is incurable. I gave up on finding "the one" a while ago. I see knives more in terms of a "fix" these days. I found a couple of knives I thought were "the one" before, but invariably I would find some little detail that would bug me about it after a couple weeks, and off to the races it would be.

Congrats! Nothing better than finding your "Grail"!! :D
I'm looking forward to the 14205 too......

I have found the one multiple times, or so I thought. I keep going back to ther manix and the 710 though. I have found the one for an EDC fixed blade with the ontario D2 RAT-3. I have been carrying it now for well over a year.

Is there such thing as the ONE? I'm pretty sure it's just a myth for me...

I love the MicroTechs but due to their extreme illagality in CA I'll stay away. Even though this will still get me in trouble, it'd be worth it! Without completely getting to a custom and breaking the bank, I'd go with the ProTech Harkin ATAC double action folder (liner lock manual and auto opener):

But this answer seems to change daily :D

Why are Microtech's illegal in Cali? Are you referring to other than manual action knives?
