I would say no. It's dye, not paint. It would give black a bluish sheen, but it will still be black.

I agree. The pot I used was an old black teflon coated one. The dye really had no effect on the color of the pan besides covering up all of the scratches. I doubt if all of the dye washed out. It is now the official non food "dye pot".
