I got a Problem on a MoD maybe...

Got my new CQD Mark1 today...... I am kind of torn here. The construction of the knife is good, it locks tight and all but here are a few things about it I just am not likin. The black matte finish on the blade is weak. When I removed the oil from the blade it isnt what I expected. The action is very tight on the knife I even tried loosening the hex nut and that doesnt work .. its just plain TIGHT. I didnt mind spending the $ 260 on the knife but honestly I expected more from this knife. My microtech amphibian which was less just feels nicer in my hand and is MUCH smoother... Can anyone here maybe help me out on what to do with it? Maybe return it maybne theres something on the knife I must do to "break it in" or somehting. Or if you got a suggestion for a new high end custom Any good suggestions will be welcome.(please no sebenzas I wanna stay under 260 total) Thanks alot in advance!
 
Yes I know it IS very tight. Even to the point where the hex nut is not even tight at all the action on the blade is still too tight. It has nothing to do with the handle//blade size but just does not feel right :(
 
Well, you need to make a distinction...is the action rough? Or just tight? The action should be smooth, but tight. It may be hard to open, but I think it is by design.
 
At some points it is rough. it kind of needs more force to open at some points in the opening action then other points..
 
Alright man ty. In case I just dont want to get another MoD, can you recommend any high end folders with a 4" blade or about that besides a microtech socom elite... ?
 
How about the Benchmade AFCK (806D2) or 710...Also, a Sebenza can be had for under $260 if you look around.
 
Well which would be better for self defense? a socom elite or the LCC. I dont care if its got the carbon fibre and whatnot on it. I just want a ultra smooth folder in a 4 inch or so size LIKE my amphibian is :confused: :confused:

How is the tip strength on the socom elite? Also I think but not shure.. is there a socom and a socom elite?
 
I have yet to find a weakness with any of Microtech's knives. There is a Socom and a Socom Elite. If you do a search there is a recent thread with the diffrences
 
Last question for you then ill stop bothering you for info hehe. Would you rather have a socom//elite over the MoD Mark1?

I would rather have a Mark 1 personally, mainly b/c I don't have one. But its hard to get better than a Socom Elite If your not happy with the MOD, I would send it back, trade or sell it.
 
Thanks ALOT for the info man. :) Guess the knife will be going back to my dealer and getting me a socom elite. Its a shame because the MoD is a killer knife, just didnt like the action.

edit: plus after stating all the crap thats wrong wit hthe knife.. i guess here would be a bad place to try and sell my "MINT CONDITION KNIFE" lol
