It is gestures like this that keep reminding me why I have decided to do my 500 post giveaway in the TF&FB sub-forum. Truly amazing knives sir and a great story.
HAK
I don't remember ever seeing a giveaway for 500 posts, but no reason not to be the first....
Thanks for the great compliments on the knives. But the credit has to go to the 'gifter" as he was the one that originally picked them out. He has very good taste in knives, as well as being a very generous person.
There really is something special about the Traditional sub forum, I could tell that when I first started hanging out here, and in time, it hasn't changed...
I think what really makes it work are the people. I don't want to make to much of a generalization but, I think people here conduct themselves the way folks did years ago. A lot of us live very simple lives, and enjoy doing things for others, while never expecting anything in return.. We like to spend our time on here as enjoyable as possible, so there is no arguing, or talking down to others that may only have one knife, or no knife at all. But when they occasional stranger comes in to town with a little attitude, it never takes long for a mod to come along and make sure they head on out of town...
I have seen people come on here and talk about slip joints and how much they would like to have one, but just don't have the funds. Could be younger people struggling to get started in life or someone that has just had a rough go of it, like we all have at one time or another. Without fail, there will always be at least one member that will step up and gift a knife to someone.
I have made some great friends on here, and for that I am very thankful.
After I downsized my collection awhile back, it changed how I looked at things. No longer was I constantly on the lookout for the next knife, even though the last one still hadn't gotten put away. I found that the ones I kept, I actually enjoy them more. My time on here is reading stories folks have to share, or looking at pics of new knives that others have gotten and are very proud of. It truly has become more about the people than the knives, and I look forward to coming on here everyday to see what others have to share.
Hopefully this made sense, I took an Ambien about an hour ago so I could sleep tonight. I know better than to post anything when I'm tired, because when I look at it the next day, I sometimes have to edit a little so it makes more sense
