It's pretty old, probly 30 years or so. Dont know what it's from but it's about 5 ft tall and 1 1/2 inch thick. it has a 2 inch wide about 4 inch long round part on one end and teeth cut lenght wise on the other. Is it safe to assume all axels that are that old would be high carbon?

Can any of you metal experts lend some info on how i could test it or whatever? :)

Axels are more likely to be medium , .4-.5% ,carbon. Better where you want toughness over edge retention.
