I got (ESEE) 5 on it!

What? No batoning into each other? How do you know which one is better?

On a more serious note, why did you get two similar knives?
I mean what was the reason?
I'm asking because I got the BK2 and I'm after a reaaaly good reason to get the 5 as well.
Both fine blades BTW:thumbup:

I do not have the willpower to baton them together...lol.

Honestly the reason I bought one is I had extra money from Chinese New Years (red envelopes, even though I am not chinese ;)) and have been looking at it for a while...got me a Junglas too, made out pretty well this year!

The reason I think I would have bought one anyway, and the reason I think you should as well is that I "needed" it....:D I like knives....

Enjoy the 5, I love mine and it is always in my pack. Well now the Junglas is, but the 5 was...

This is off topic, but incase Dale sees this post, I have a question for him.

The ESEE-5 is a heavy knife to be putting in that envelope. I am wondering if any knives shipped like that have come up missing. If so, do you think maybe using a medium Priority rate box will be better. The extra cost of shipping is about 2 dollars, which would be a wash if you ever had to replace a knife that was lost or damaged in transit due to that envelope.

Tyvek is VERY tough stuff. I have shipped hundreds if not thousands of packages using them & I do not recall ever having one come apart. I don't recall having anything damaged when using them either.

Very cool.

Thank you for answering my question Sir:thumbup:

Interesting, but I refuse to believe that those pics are accurate representations of those knives, I now must get one of each to compare for myself.;) (rubs hands together)

All kidding aside, Great Review. Pretty good pics for a camera phone.
Post back up when you've had a chance to use them side by side, I'd like to hear how it goes.

What, no one caught the Luniz reference? Shame!

Nice blade you've got there man. I need to get my hands on a BK2.

I caught the Luniz reference right away! I got a good laugh out of that one! Great photos and side by side with the BK2. I've never held one, but it looks like one hell of a knife.

I understand and don't understand at the same time why people compare the ESEE-5 and the BK2. They're similar to a point, yet very different at the same time in my opinion.

I like them both for different reasons. The ESEE-5 is my favorite fixed blade, but that's not in direct comparison to my BK2. That's an overall evaluation vs. all my larger fixed blades.

Not to mention you can get a serrated 5 but have to do unspeakable acts to acquire a BK2SG from someone. I love the BK2 but I would like a serrated version. Personal preference for that style of knife.

;) Notice he is cutting the Tyvek envelope open. The glue used for the flap is well nigh impossible to tear open. And the Tyvek is not going to get ripped open in any sort of way that would not rip a box apart as well. There is a reason those envelopes are not "Flat Rate"- you could dump car parts in them and they would not come apart!
