I got my M-43 khuk in the mail today. :D Didn't expect it so early since it only got shipped out Tuesday, &.... Oh... Oh my God.

I completely have an entirely new appreciation for handmade knives now. WOW
I mean.... WOW
My Cold Steel khuk shaped knife is obsolete. This HI M-43 is my new, primary (Hunting/Camping/Survival/Self-defense) knife.
I've heard lots of YouTubers talk crap about how HI khukuri are too heavy & unbalanced. NO NO NO NO... The M-43 is definitely a fighting knife.
Balance is so even... Oh... My... God... this blade is ridiculously nimble for it's weight.

Kami mark is a 6 pointed star... I think it's made by Kumar Bishwakarma.
Overall lentgh... 18.5"
Blade length... 12.5"
Belly... 2.5"
Spine... 7/16"

& ZERO shrinkage of the wooden handle. WOOT! :D

Yeah... I know... pictures or it didn't happen.
Well pics are a day or 2 away, b/c 1... I'm lazy & 2... I got to find my camera.

turok you are feeling what we all call HIKV or Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus, I am afraid there is no cure, but you can live a long and comfortable life on DOTD deals of the day.

00Turok--congrats on what sounds like a great blade. I've recently become quite interested in such blades--would it be possible to post some pics of your new one? Alone, and in comparison to the CS blade, would be very much appreciated. Congrats again.

Sorry, just realized you said pics were coming... I'll be looking out for them!

There is NO comparison...seriously.

BTW...the six pointed star is a Kumar.

I concur on both the diagnostic and the prognostic.

00Turok seems to have been hit by a pretty severe strain.

Yep! We might have to send him to the CDC in Atlanta...naww..Tried that. Never werks.
Put that old knife in that drawer with them pedi paws, sham-wows, and snuggies. Its all good now:thumbup:

Heavy, maybe. Unbalanced - not. And that helps with the whole weight perception as well.

+1 to moon. Never got why people said HI blades are too heavy, the weight helps with chopping and the balance disperses the weight. That and quite a few of their models meet traditional specs.

I love the weight of my m43- closing in on 19" and over two pounds- not sure by how much though. Postal scale only goes to 2lbs.

00Turok- now all you need to do is get some wood that needs to be chopped. Or some dinosaurs. Springs the perfect time of year- lots of fallen branches for the fire pit that needs to be cut down.

All these pictures of the blades people are getting is making me more anxious about that samsher. Looks almost exactly like a Bhojpur styled one from the old arsenal, nearly the same specs too. Gonna be a treat in the hand but the post office hasn't updated tracking in three days.

Of all the knifes I have bought i have never had to have a tracking number for one. I usually have the blade in two days. I think Aunti forgot to ship one blade once but i had bought another a few days later and when I got it both were in the same box. Shes fantastic about getting our blades to us quickly:thumbup:

Hang in there DT. The wait probably won't kill you... though there is no proof of that from my experience.

00Turok, I am very happy to hear that Auntie's wormhole shipping method works to your location. I agree with the others that it is wonderful to hear that you are happy about your M-43. It is a great blade and with proper maintenance should serve you well for a lifetime. The problem with U-tube is that you don't know what experience the person has. Even knife people don't necessarily know what makes a good khuk. They try to compare khuks based on the same qualities they would compare survival knives. They are not the same and are not used the same. If you watch them try to chop with them you can tell quite quickly the ones who actually know how to use a khuk vs those that try to chop like they are using a knife or those that chop like they are using an axe. If you aren't like me and haven't already read every single sticky and all the threads you can find here in the forum, then do yourself a favor and find the ones on how to chop with a khuk. The motion is pretty simple but it makes a world of difference when used. May your M-43 serve you to perfection!

I'm a patient man thank god. Guess it doesn't help that I live about 30 miles due east of nowhere

I think you hit it right there Shavru. They dont know how to use them in the first place. "My new alarm clock didnt go off this morning cause I didnt read the instructions?" That kinda deal. Its like food. Most people try something once and if they dont like it they never try it again but they sure will talk about it for the rest of their life out of complete ignorance. Kinda bass ackwards logic or complete lack thereof.
