I Got My Buck 500 Yesterday

I received my Buck 500 (the good old Duke) yesterday. It was an eBay purchase NIB. It is too bad this model is discontinued. The 4-3/8-inch handle fills the hand nicely, and the knife rides comfortably in the pocket. It came with a Buck black leather belt sheath with padding on the inside of the snap for those who wish to wear the Duke. It is one very sweet knife. I like it so much that I've already ordered a second Duke.

I am trying to buy from that seller, but I always add insurance to big stuff. Does anyone else do that, or not bother?

I asked the seller to give me a total with insurance, and they combined shipping but were silent about the insurance issue. I replied and asked them to clarify, and they did not reply. I notice they posted more items for sale since then, so they aren't "off the grid" as we used to say.

...I just have to wonder how someone gets ahold of 2 dozen NIB discontinued Buck 500 Dukes??...I gotta find a new place to look fer knives...LOL...

I Bought one of those fifty dollar eBay Dukes. The Blade just says "Buck and USA." no 500 markings. Is that right? all my other Bucks have model numbers.

Does it have the anvil stamped on the tang? The anvil was the symbol used in 2002 (I believe) to date the knife, but Buck chose not to include the model # on blades with the anvil. I don't know the reason for that.

I got a Buck Big Sky off E-bay last summer and it was stamped the same way. Buck and USA, but no model number. I am curious about that as well.

My eBay $50 Duke says BUCK [Anvil] U.S.A. There is no 500 marking. I'm expecting a second Buck 500 from the same seller this week. After the 110, the 500 is my second favorite Buck.
