I got my new knife! MY FIRST BENCHMADE!

awesome! this was my first higher end knife and benchmade as well! I now have afew more but your first is always special

I didn't even know you could get an Orange Grip in D2 without having to custom-order one from Benchmade.

I wanted the H2O variant just to try out the steel, but if I can find an Orange D2 one, I may just pick that one up instead.

Crimson Tide ... +1.

Yes, your new Grip is a fine knife, but don't back away from D2.
One of the most famous knife-makers of all times, Bob Dozier (RIP), used D2 extensively if not exclusively. His knives are wonderful, and much sought after.

Bob Dozier is dead? Thats news to me.

Yeah - he's always saying "I ain't gonna live but 10 more years anyway", but I thought he had about 9 left. I don't see anything about his death online.

I adore my Grip. Had mine with me today on a Mountain Bike Trip and snapped this pic... Congrats man, you will enjoy!

I had a small amount of bladeplay that i had to tighten out. Is this normal? I got rid of it by tightening the pivot screw a bit.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it. With regard to the blade play, I've never had a benchmade that didn't require a little tweaking of the pivot screw to get to my liking. Some were a little loose like yours, my 950 Rift came a little tight for my liking and needed to be loosened up a bit, no big deal. A properly adjusted axis locking knife should open lightning fast and smooth and lock up rock solid, when the lock is released the blade should nearly fall closed under its own weight with nothing more than minimal flick (more like a twitch really) required to close even the tighter axis knives. Its really a slick setup, rivaled IMO only by spydercos compression lock in its balance of strength, reliability, ease of use, and being just flat out fun to play with. Enjoy your new knife!!

Have the serrated version. You can't go wrong with this knife
Gets crazy sharp and stays that way

Also excellent value for the money

What a coincidence, I just got my first BM and its a orange griptilian too.

I love everything about it. It easy to see where they got the name from, I cant get over how comfortable the knife is. Im liking the axis lock as well.
