hey guys im so happy to say after much trial and error I found a way for a newbie such as myself to make a perfect bevel on both sides of the blade
so I spent some time on youtube and the internet researching correct angles and charts with finding NO information that I personally would find useful ( I know I am going to get an I told you so ) but what can I say im stubborn
Having zero faith in the steadiness of my hands and hearing advice on the forum about scrapping 100 blades learning almost scared me off completely as my only funding for this is coming from my kydex business that also supports myself and my family so scrapping that much money in steel just did not seem like the right choice and the search continued
finally I found something I figured I could work with I made a awesome jig and am now hand filing my bevels since starting with hand filing I have yet to scrap a blade since and now have near perfect equal bevels on ither side not saying its the right way just saying it worked for me everything moves much slower no pitching angles or miss plunging grinds or different angels on the knife just figured I would share with you guys
still cant post photos tho cant seem to figure that part out here

Well that is truly great !!! You have found a way that works for you. That is what it's all about. There are other makers that only work in that hand filing manner. A very few are at the top with the best.
Frank.

thanks niro
It dose take more time to do but I feel im learning a great deal from it as the alterations to the steel im using come on very slow and are fairly easy to control

Have you looked at any of the knives, folders too, that Wolfgang Loerchner or his daughter have made? I believe they still work in the 100% true hand making manner with just hand tools. They work independent of one another but not too surprising in a similar style.Their work is just gorgeous ! Frank
