I Got so much help last time I'll try it again!

That's some good input... the only reason at all I'm worried about the MAXX's length is that it might take up too much room in his pockets. Legally he's fine and socially he's fine because the people that are going to see him use this knife will probably be the type of people who aren't knuts but who will go "Ti Handles and D2 steel! What a cool knife!" even though they don't know what Ti or D2 refers to. :D

Really what would be the perfect clip for him would be one like the bayonet clips on the SOG Flash II or the wire clip like on certain Spydercos: very low carry and doesn't get in the way. Thanks for the tip on the aftermarket clip btw. That might be the solution. He prefers belt carry for some occassions which is the reason I'm thinking about a horizontal belt sheath if we went with this model because it's so long. A vertical sheath would just get in his way. But we could get that later since it'd stay in his pocket most of the time.

I just learned I have like 2.5 months though to take care of this... it seems he's going out of state for a while so that gives me even more time to ponder it all :D

I mostly wear cargo pants or jeans, but even the pockets of my rarely-worn dress slacks are deep enough that the Maxx does not touch bottom. Aside from length, the Maxx is actually slimmer than most full-sized folders (0.42"). It is wider than most, but not by much and not all. I'd say that it carries much the same as my 3" to 4" folders (710, Dominator, Boa, and Native).

Try www.equipped.com, as they have a benchmade folder with axis lock. The blade looks like a Sebenza. The steel is CPM S30V. It costs about $139.95, and are serial numbered.

Those clips that fit the Cuda Maxx, also fit the Dominator. They have the exact same clip. I've looked into them, and I actually prefer the original clips. I have both the Maxx, and Dominator, and they are just easier to get a hold of with the standard issue clips. They don't show a whole lot of knife, but the clips can be blacked out to make them less conspicuous, BUT, if you think concealability is more important, or keeping the knife out of the way, the clips do take care of that.

Either way, I recommend both the Maxx and Dominator, as you just can't beat the designs for simplistic perfection of useability, and durability.

I thought about the 110 in BG42 actually and while that's a darn tough knife, my experience with my SOGs in BG42 is that that Rc 62 comes at a price, and that price is sharpening that son of a biscuit eater!

That's another option though... it's a classic design and that steel is tougher than leather.
