I guess I'm rough on my stuff.

Beat up knife pictures; These are the best :)

You better believe it! Unless photos are taken a few hours after getting a brand new knife, there's no excuse to post up pictures of it looking pretty! :p:thumbup:

I probably will just buy another 5 to keep in good condition to use for more delicate tasks.

or you could get a more delicate knife for delicate tasks... perhaps an Izula or 3?

no disrespect intended, but some of the things you're doing to beat up the knife sound like "rookie mistakes". if you make them, learn from them and don't keep making them things will get better over time.

it's like giving a rookie driver a high powered, expensive car.. odds are high that it will get dinged up or wrecked in a short time. start them out in an economy beater without a bunch of power and they'll learn to drive and unless they total the car, a few dings and scrapes really won't make any difference.

as long as you're learning from these experiences, it's all good.

I've dinged the edges of lots of knives on rocks before. The first time is always the worst. Glad you were able to accept it and move on. My first ding was with a KaBar over 10 years ago. When it comes to choppers I kind of think that if the blade doesn't have scratches or a few dings in the edge, I ain't using it enough.

Looking forward to pictures of your knife!

I have 2 izulas and a hest so I have that covered. My use of words was wrong. I'm not getting the extra 5 for delicate tasks, I'm just getting it and keeping it in good condition until it's time to use it.

I understand that I'm probably making a lot of stupid and careless mistakes, but I'm new to all this bushcrafting stuff so I guess I really can't avoid it. I'll just take my lumps and buy new knives down the road.

For everyone asking for pics; my d80 will arrive back to me next week so pictures will follow soon after that.
