I guess Japanese knives don't suck...

Just kidding, I knew Japanese knives didn't suck! But I got a couple in that I'm really pleased with.

Usually carry my CRK Inkosi but needed a couple of knives for different roles. I needed a suit/dress pants knife. I know I know get a slipjoint (I have them) but I dont' like them in the bottom of my pocket. The Al Mar seemed pricey to me but I'll be honest it's got really great fit and finish - not bad at all. It's a little smaller than I thought it would be. I may exchange it for the eagle. Not sure yet. But as for as quality, I dig it.

Second, I needed something light that I could take to the gym and on my early morning walks/hikes. Something that wouldn't weigh gym shorts or athletic pants and having a vacation knife is an added bonus. This knife is larger than I thought it would be but it looks like it will serve me well.

Here's a quick shot because "pics or it didn't happen" right?

940-1 or small sebenza 21 CF for suit and athletic shorts. I wear athletic shorts year round until it drops to <30 degrees. Love the 940 and 3oz knifes for that reason :D
Oh, also the 0450cfzdp :D

All the Seki stuff that has crossed my desk has been great. I consider the Spyderco Salt line pivotal in my knife usage rotation. H1 is fantastic stuff. I carry a pacific SE nearly every day at the gym or in regular rotation. Summer it was my most carried. I've just recently got a Zome Endura and it is fantastic! Owned most of the Seki Sogs at one point or another. All out match the stuff SOG is producing now. I would love to get into some hattori stuff but my knife quota has been far exceeded. Yup, japan still knows what they are doing knife wise. Spyderco is one big name brand that still takes advantage of Japanese produced knives. The value and quality is undeniable.

Craytab, you're one of the reasons I bought the Pacific Salt.

This thing is larger than I expected.

My favorite Cold Steel folders, the ones from Japan era. Those were the really nice ones...

Nice but I couldn't get into serrated blades. It must be a pain to sharpen when the time comes or do they not require sharpening?

You can get the H1 salt knives with no serrations, I got the little one with them (ladybug?)
and the bigger one plain edged.
Edit- spyderco will sharpen them for @ 5 bucks if you don't want to sharpen serrations

Not difficult at all, if you have a Spyderco Sharpmaker. I can't say about Cold Steel's serrations due to the pattern/spacing, but most serrated Spydercos and similarly-patterned serrated blades are easy enough to touch up on the Sharpmaker.

OP, you go through knives and interests very fast!

The Al Mar was moved because it was too small (hand was too cramped on the handle and the point on the end dug in badly).

The Pacific Salt was moved because I'm going to pick up the Atlantic Salt instead.

Take a look at the characteristics of H1. It is a work hardening steel. Serrations on H1 stay sharp for a quite a long time.

Yeah, the Salt makes more sense as an EDC knife than the Pacific Salt. I have one in my basket now waiting on something else to come in so I can buy both together.
