We have trying to get together for a little while now, today it all came together. Seeing as how it was cold snowy and winds gusting to 35 mph or so we just kind of hung out. We talked about knives, hunting, fishing, canoeing and lots of other outdoor activities. We even talked about the Western New York gathering. Patrick checked out some of my knives I had on hand, and even got a sneak peak at 2 new designs I whipped up yesterday. He had asked me about getting some steel to make a few of his own knives and went home with 6 feet of 1/8" x 1 & 1/4" 1095 so he can get a start. We talked about the way I do my knives, I gave him some tips on what works for me, we also talked about how much great info is here in W&SS and the forums as well.

I know deep down inside we both wanted to go out and actually use a couple of my knives. He was able to check out most of the knives in my collection and like I said hang and just relax. It was really nice to get to meet a really nice person but a fellow BF member. I am looking forward to getting together again hopefully soon and maybe heading out to the woods and do some knife play. I am also looking forward to the Western New York gathering so I can meet more fellow members and knife nuts. Next time when the weather is better I promise pictures as well. Doug

Yeah, I had a great time hanging out with Doug. He's one humble, generous and talented fella. I was lucky to handle a bunch of his knives and came away with a lot of information on what it takes to make a comfortable knife. His designs are really nice and will make useful tools. The new designs look great. I really liked his willingness to share how he works his craft. No mysterious stuff, just hard work and a desire to put a quality knife in the hands of someone who will use and appreciate it. I too am really looking forward to the summer get-together. I can't wait to stick nice knives in trees and shoot the breeze.

Talfuchre I have checked and I found that 2 pieces of my template material, and a set of Buffalo horns scales are missing. OPPS I gave them to him. lol. PB Thanks for the comments and compliments. Doug

I may be shady, but Doug is such a nice guy, I went easy on him. ;)

I've been sketching some knife designs that I'd like to make one day with the steel I bought from him and those buffalo horn scales will be featured on one of them for sure. Doug should post a pic of his edc with the buffalo horn scales and the Il Bruche sheath. That one was a beaut! He also has a whole bunch of really cool slipjoints in his collection that he was nice enough to show me. I'm just getting back into slipjoints and have a long list of styles I want to buy now. I'm inspired. Now to find a way to make these purchases without the wife finding out...:D

Nothing is better than chatting the night away with buds who talk as much as you do about knives!!!
