So I removed the pocket clips on my Adamas and 0350 and was shocked at how both felt so much better in the hand! Does anyone else go clipless?

Interesting! I got a new edc light recently and the clip just wasn't working. Took off the clip, and put on a long lanyard with some weaving at the end to dangle out of my pocket and I love carrying it this way. I think partly it works because I wear pretty tight jeans so it kind of stays in place.

I've never gone clipless with a knife but your post might just inspire me to try....

Small knives, yes, but not larger knives. While I agree that a clip does take away from comfort during use in hand it adds to comfort when I'm carrying the knife in pocket. Which is where it lives 90% of the time.

I took the clip off my Turmoil and it's a phenomenal difference, same effect with most knives I suppose. Personally the convenience of a clip out ways the ergos going without.

Large folders get stuck sideways in most of my pockets when carried loose. Therefore I clip mine, even though I'll carry a Delica or Mini Grip clipless. Also, clips set for tip up carry interfere less with my grip than when set for tip down carry. It's important to experiment to discover what works best for you.

I carry both clip and clipless depending on my mood that day. The clipless tend to be smaller / lighter knives. I can't say I have ever taken a clip off a knife and carried it clipless.

I frequently take the clips off of my knives, big and small. I have a Military in my pocket now. I find I really do not need the clip and it gets in the way of sustained use = hotspots. Where I used to live a large knife in the pocket was considered a concealed weapon but a knife clipped in your pocket was somehow legal. So, I had to use the clip on knives with 3 inch blades and longer. Where I live now the cops had better not see it at all, even though technically not illegal. So, I go clipless and do not miss the clips at all.

I hate clips. No.. I loathe them.

I've moved to rear pocket carry. I stitch a seam half way up my RRP about 1.25" from the right hand side. Comfortable. Handles the brutishly heavy 110 with ease. Easy access. Keeps front pockets clear (Micra has moved to RFP and money clip remains in LFP). Should have done this a while ago.

I've thought about doing this. I've always carried my knife in my back pocket and have lost a couple knives due to the clip catching on some upholstery. Thought a lanyard and a narrower portion of the pocket would eliminate the issue.

I wear carpenter's jeans 99% of the time. The brand I wear (Wrangler) has a horizontal seam. I go down from there. If you blow up this picture, you can see the vertical seam I added. I've since moved the seam to right. Just wide enough for a knife. I don't carry a cell phone like that any more.

I went naked (clip less) with my Cold Steel Hold Out One for a couple months this winter because I robbed the clip for another knife.
Thing is the knife is so long the top end rides about the same all day in the pocket clip or no clip. You can just see it here just bellow the top of my pocket.

The clip is back on now. Some times I find myself just slipping the knife into my pocket and forgetting to clip it. I like to look at the clean, no clip, handle because it was a novelty but really I don't care either way.

Well actually I do like the clip because it keeps the knife from slipping out of my pocket when I sit on the ground to put my boots on.
So yah, to go clip less . . . that's madness, shear, cavalier madness.

The second Lucky in this photo is going with no clip so I can tell one from the other. The one with no clip is my steak knife (gets dulled) the one with the clip is kept fully sharp.

One knife I may run clip free is a Spyderco Chaparral when I get one. I hate to cover up the cool handle texture.

After all in some circles pocket clips are rare and sacred objects;

not just any Joe Shmo is allowed access to the sacred Clipus Pocketus without much sacrifice and purification through chanting and praying, prostrate, in the direction of Ventura California and even then there is no guarantee that one may not be cast out . . . banished to a life of aimless wandering . . . in the wilderness . . . clip less . . . for all eternity.

Schrade 51OT, great workhorse knife and no nail nick, this knife was made to pinch drop open... :). What do you think of it? It was an underated lock back that was tough as nails. Sometimes old school's best. ;)

I wish I COULD go clipless. The only knives I carry clipped are OTF's. My use of a clip on folders is solely to provide additional leverage to opening/closing the knife...much easier for me than a smooth side. I usually carry slipcased in pocket.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The clip helps me with keeping a grip for open and close

Looks like old school is new again.
I remember a time when clip less was the only way.
Still most of the time I use the clip.

The 51OT is a very, very fun knife. It's the best folder when there's a stack of potatoes to cut. I really dig drop points and spear points but this is a LOT of blade. A regular pancake. It's not the most versatile blade. It stays in the rotation though and now that I've changed to back pocket carry and carrying it more often, I'll be interested to see if it grows on me more or not.

At present, this Schrade 6OT is getting the nod more often.

The 6OT is, by far, my favorite 110 style lock back.

I'm carrying my Endura 4 clip less in my back pocket. I took the clip off soon after I got it. It's so light it's hardly noticeable, but ymmv.

Modern clips seem to go well with their knives, so I don't pay them much mind in most lock types, needing them for grip reasons anyway. I have a framelock or two I run without clips because I do feel like a clip on those degrades the look of the lock side. If it weren't for the opening/closing leverage I'd take the clip off all framelocks.
