I had no Idea were this blade design came from.

Thus the poison of online influencers
If shes spreading blatantly incorrect or misinformed information about a specific historical topic, people who take her at uh.. face, value and will just assumed its correct and not look any further because they got their information, i.e. tunnel vision

It's totally irrelevent above all else. A Modern knife having no connexion with Traditional blades apart from make believe story , still less any 'influence' on the type of knives under discussion in this part of the forum.
Yeah I don't know why he posted it here.

Since Frank or Gary will probably deep six this anyways…

Wonder if she could enlighten us to the function of the giant choil that eats up half the blade on this…whatever this is, that she apparently had a hand in designing.IMG_7391.jpeg

The most concentrated bunch of horse hockey I ever almost listened to.
I just love to learn polite swears.

But that is for easier sharpening, don't you know??? :) ;)

Talking personalities, I briefly seen some of her videos and appearances on various knife shows, so I might not really know. Not a fan, nor a hater. Yet she just doesn't feel like a typical err... social media French Kate, to put it politely, to me. Indeed, there are some trivial gimmicks present, as mentioned clothing style, but she was usually admissible. If she could use some research on the subject of cutlery, that would be great both for her and her audience. Maybe her attitude is same as of Ben Banters though, who openly stated in an article on his personal website that he is "not a knife guy" and he just "loves to sell a commercially successful product", if my memory serves me well. To each their own.

She’s a prolific social media influencer in the Knife community………certainly not manager of the Blade Show.!

I have actually run across a few of her videos while browsing YouTube. I consider her barely a small step above the late night commercials for BudK and such.

"And if you order now, you'll also get..."

Interesting video! It brings to mind the origin of the Spear point as used on most of the world's bayonets.
The Spear pointed blade was designed by the Vatican's Swiss guard to resemble the Pontiff's formal headgear and reminded the guards that their main objective was the Pope's defense. (not posing for tourist photos)
Manufactured by Victorinox since 1653 the Spear point found its way into many other forms of cutlery and is still effectively used for its original design. ;)

Meh. A lot of knife personalities these days seems to be more focused on pumping out large amounts of content over actual information about the knives they're talking about. Some post multiple videos a day, even. It's more about just putting stuff out for views over being truly informative, especially in the face of receiving free knives to discuss. I refuse to watch them anymore these days. At least not seriously. I'll view a video briefly just to see what a knife looks like if it seems interesting, and maybe some specs, but everything else they have to say tends to fall on deaf ears with me.

The spear point existed long before there was a Pope to guard.

The first time I saw the choil I thought ….yup…weak point and stress point…gonna break right there. The only OTHER thing I can say is if she enjoys using the knife then let her, she doesn’t look like she will cut herself, but history of knife design I am leery of its veracity.

This is a troll post right? Some sort of joke?

I’ve seen her at every bladeshow Ive been too. She’s drives the knife nerds into a frenzy! But don’t worry I played it cool. 😂
Same. She's easy to spot since she's always in one of the like, three outfits she owns.

Catty, but seriously, last five years...same clothes. Gotta admire the commitment to the bit I guess!

Lol, now that you mention it that’s absolutely true. Guess I never paid much attention to the clothes. 😂

Definitely some great people watching at the bladeshow.
