no, no....I didn't offend some sheeple by carrying (yet). Rather, I was out with my wife & our little girl, and my wifes family. My wife is trying to open a juice box to pour it in a sippy cup, and she turns to me...."hey honey, do you have a knife?" :eek: "Is that supposed to be a rhetorical question?"
After a moment of silence, she goes "ha, I guess that is a dumb question isn't it?"

I need to hurry up and buy a Leatherman (can't decide between a Wave or a Blast) because she asked me to get a Squirt at the same time for her to carry in her purse....

I vote for the wave. I have one that gets used a good bit. I find it is a great size for EDC.

Here's how experienced knife accumulators answer that question:

"Honey do you have a pocketknife."
"Not today, sorry. I think it got lost in the laundry. If only I had a new one..."
Then Wife buys me a new one!
 
I would suggest some form of a Juice over the Squirt for the wife. The Juice S2 is my favorite.
 
haha... being a college kid people give me funny looks and questions for having one.. and then they get to know me before long the start asking "hey do you have you knife on you today?" All I can do is roll my eyes and pull it out with a big sigh.. I'm almost embarrassed when they ask me if I have it.. like what else would I have done.. forget it at home??

Of those 2, definitely the Wave. The way the blades open out from the closed position make it much more useful, and when using the pliers the handles are rounded and comfortable, whereas with the Blast (and all inside-opening LMs), the edges are sharp and uncomfortable.

If you expect to use the main blade a lot, skip the Wave and drop the extra coin for a Charge. 154CM for the aluminum models, S30V on the titanium TTi. Plus you get all the interchangeable bits and whatnot.
 
+1 for the Wave.... And only once when my wife asked me for my knife did I feel dirty and ashamed..... When i realized I forgot it on my nightstand and had to admit it. :eek:

One past experience...

Some kid comes to the front of the class and asks the professor for a pencil sharpener during an exam. No luck. He passes by me and I say to him, "Wanna use this?" and hold out a ZT 0301. He backs off as if I'm holding a live IED.

An embarrassing thing happened on the way to the.....

Actually got caught with my pants down last weekend during a yard sale we were having. My wife wanted to put batteries in a baby swing and needed a screwdriver to open it. So she turns to me and asks me for my LM which I always carry...except that day, when I decided I didn't feel like having it on my belt:o

Never the less, I refuse to let that happen again!! :D
