It just doesn't look as good its much shinier, its a lot bulkier and in the way it doesn't flow well with the knife. Anyone know where I can get some of the old ones?

I was going to recommend a pivot screw from Nathawut, but you won't like it. Wayyyyyyy shiny.

^^ its about twice that of the older ones and its also off centered also it came rusted.

The top knife's screw head is not counter-sunk into the cover. If they don't have to cut a hole to counter-sink the screw head into, they save money.

At least they use a slotted head screw instead of a torx head screw. Can't always come up with a torx driver when you need it but you can always find something to tighten a slotted head screw. Benchmade and others could take a lesson from this.

The new pivot screw looks kind of cheap. In fact the pivot screw, thumb disc and G10 all look pretty cheap. Almost looks counterfeit.

My 2011 CQC-8 pivot looks nothing like the bottom one. Actually, none of my 15 Emersons look like that one. The G10 looks pretty chewed up, too. Something isn't right......

when i broke down my emerson i thought that there was rust spots but it turned out to be rust colored lube as far as i could tell. that or all the rust dust got stuck in a few spots of lube.

and counterfeit emersons are a big problem according to their website. you could try and send it in to have them swap out pivots, and if its fake they will know for sure

The new pivot screws are counter-sunk and fairly flush w/the G-10. They're not too bad. They actually look good on the mini Emersons.

Thanks for those great pics, Skwurll. I like the new screws for the fact that you no longer need a thin blade screwdriver to adjust them.

the horseman was bought direct from emerson's website its legit, that's just emerson's infamous fit and finish, this is not like the rolex production at all like emerson claims its just lazy.

These new pivot screws does look cheap. It's not as flat so doesn't "flow" with the rest of the knife as the old one!

The edge of that G10 and the pattern itself look bad. It looks like someone tried to hand shape it with a Dremal. I have never had a problem with Emersons fit and finish; in fact I do not know what people are complaining about. Not to digress but when it comes to poor fit and finish and build quality Spyderco takes the cake.

As much as it pains me to say it, problems like what you're experiencing are the reason I've steared away from Emerson knives. WAY too much inconsistancy in quality control. I've had some that were beautifully finished and assembled correctly, and I've had others that looked like Jojo the Monkey Boy put them together.

You're kidding right? Spyderco has impeccable F&F. The edge of the G10 all look like that--there is nothing wrong with it.

I am absolutely not kidding. Two of the most recent Spydercos that I have bought have had, how do I say it, f#@&ed up blade grinds (Police 3, and Military). My latest Spyderco purchase (Yojimdo 2) felt like the bushings were made out of sand paper and lubed with tar. Their finish is nice and clean, however their QC is just not there. Let me also mention that when I got my new Spyderco Triangle sharpener two of the ceramics are visably warped and twisted.
