i HATE esee

I know I may be in the minority on this, but this doesn't really fit the ESEE line of no nonsense blades. While I like Damascus sometimes, I fail to see the reason behind this blade.

I guess until we know any specs on the steel, I just don't see the improvement.

But, a stainless knife does make sense. Looking forward to that.

ETA: Saw the steel info; standard high carbon 52100 etc...

Any idea who is making the damascus? I ask because as far as I know, ESEE might have just started producing their own knives recently. As of about a year ago, an outside company was making them. I would suspect that they are sourcing the damascus from someone else.
Edit. I just read elsewhere that the steel is coming from Alabama Damascus. Anyone else hear that?

Some makers parkerize their damascus blades and then polish the higher nickel bearing parts up nice and silver. It is primarily done to make the non-nickel bearing steel deep black, but i have heard that it does offer a bit more protection to the "low spots" than just etching.
A coated Damascus blade would be kind of funny, wouldn't it?
