Yeah I'll make a slipjoint to test that one day ;)

You should give it a go.

Making slipjoint knives are a bit addicting for some reason. I stopped making all fixed blades and turned down orders just to concentrate on learning how to make slipjoint knives. The learning curve is steep but worth it.

One day I will make fixed blades again, but I find making the slipjoint far more challenging and rewarding when completed.

With a flixed blade if you make a mistake you just alter and keep going. With a slipjoint you make a mistake often it means you start over due to such close tolerances.

These little machines have to be timed, aligned and move perfect.

So when I need a vacation I will make a fixed blade :)

I never realy cared for slip joints untill I got one from TA Davison.
It just lives in your jeans pocket and does all that needs doing. Very handy knife!

As a non-machinist/non-metalworker I find all the tools used in making slip joints a bit intimidating.
But I bought a good how-to-book on slip joints with simple tools.
I'll finish all projects I'm working on and then try my first slip joint.
Stainless blade and spring, bought washers, bronce liners and G10 scales.
I'll peen the pivot over the scales on this first one.
If I like it I can always get the better and pro tools/machines.
If not I'll have a self made slip joint :)
