I hate my 4X6 bandsaw...

That's what mine looks like, and the lowest screw is tracking. Is yours missing the tracking screw?

Oh Crap Mike, never even thought about that. Never seen a screw there. Let me go to the shop and see about that.

Thanks

Patrice

I have the same saw,and had the same problem. what i do is:

Put your blade on,tighten by hand so its pretty snug.turn the saw on to center blade.then i use a big pair of adjustable pliers and tighten that bitch right down :) maybe to tight?? but i have never had a blade pop off and it cuts like a champ!!

try it :)

Buttah I tell you! It cuts like buttah!!!!! :D

Thanks Mike, there was a set screw in there instead. I think it was pretty tight like it is suppose to be for the tracking but I still needed ot know it'S there for adjusting.
Bali, I got a pretty good grip but I will keep this in mind if it pops out.

So what did it? A faulty freaking blade.
Tried the second blade (which I should have done first of course stoopid me) and it it cut's great. I don't have time to try it more than that today gotta go to work but it's 1000% better so I am pretty sure I am ok.

Thanks for all your input I really appreciate. It hard to see what helped but it seems to cut better than it did at the beginning so all your adjsutments were useful.

What would I do without you guys. :o

Well you probably would have taken the motor out of the bandsaw and then thrown it in front of a semi. ;)

Too quick Mike. I would take it apart piece by piece and run each one though my shop press with the music from the exorcist playing in the background. ;)

Thanks again.

Patrice

Get rid of the piece of crap and get yourself a porta-band and use it for horizontal and vertical cutting. You will LUV it.

Your saw looks just like mine. I am about to throw mine in the lake and get a new one. The blade tracks on the top, but not on the bottom wheel. If I buy a new one, I think I will get a 3/4" blade.

I am thinking that a chop saw might be a better way to go. One of those 14" abrasive wheel things. What do others think of the idea? Pros and Cons?

Other than a faulty switch, my 4X6 has worked great for about 9 years. The only modification I have made is a new table, and a foam pad to sit on while I'm working. I only use it in the verticle mode.

Patrice, I had a dewalt portaband and a HF bandsaw in my Maui shop. The HF was always a pain in the neck, and the portaband was always great. I always wished the HF would step up and be reliable, but in the end when I moved to Oahu I sold the HF and kept the dewalt. It was kind of bitter for me loading it into that truck when it left, but at least I got rid of it for $10 more than I bought it for. ($40!) I'm glad you figured yours out.

Heck, get a portaband to :) mine should be here this week!!! beats changing blades constantly! i'm excited to see how well these dewalt's work

I have a few things to buy when funds become available but after that I will look into getting one, thanks.

Shawn... Did you end up going with the DeWalt? It's a great saw... I think you'll be happy with it.

Need both , just got the 14" chop saw and love it . Cuts in seconds instead of mins.

Yea dude!! got the same one as you :)

Copycat... guess I'll just have to order a Sugar Creek kiln to get back at you...

... and ordered.

Take that.

Erin

Note: Never tried aggressor blades... In fact, the only blades I've ever used on my DeWalt are DW3986 14/18TPI blades from Amazon... though these currently appear to be unavailable.

That's it, I give up!:mad::mad::mad:

Spent some time getting the saw all ready. Tightened and oiled everything. I start and it cuts good like it did on Sunday and then bam! I loose 3-4 theeth and the blade comes loose. It'S not like I am cutting adamantium for pete's sake. 1095 3/16, going slow as hell. I give up!

Where can I get one of those Dewalt and how much do they cost! :grumpy:

Patrice

Patrice, try tightening it down with adjustable pliers.grab the knob with them and tighten it down real good.
