I took a hobby and turned it into a businsess almost 14 years ago. I can't even begin to think of working for someone again .....the saying goes, "I don't need a boss - I already have an a*****e, i don't need another".
My only regret is that I have sort of "lost" my hobby. Creativity is often second fiddle to production. I spend a lot more time in production and doing business things than creating. Anyway, that is why I took up knife making - to have a creative hobby that would be no more than a part-time business. I also know that since I started making knives (earlier this year), that kind of no pressure creative activity has inspired me in my main business.
Anyway - make sure you get a lot of creative time in before you commit to doing any craft full-time. I've been there many times ...
