I HATE Slipjoints

I like knives ... all kinds of knives ... I think I'm slipping off into the deep end ...

Only a fool would conclude they hate a style of knife before they carried and used that style.

What if Dark Ops made a slip joint?

Yeah ignore everything that they can do better like provide allot more edge in a smaller package, out cut and out edge hold by a large amount than a single blade onehander. There are so many things a slipjoint does better that you shouldn't consider just because you prefer your onehander that you shouldn't even try one. Sounds reasonable to me. Only a fool would conclude they hate a style of knife before they carried and used that style.

I had made that post last night after having a few with an old friend of mine. That is no excuse. After reading it today I’d just like to apologize to everyone for it. I have many different types of knives and think they all are useful and I like to use and carry them all.

DB, I don't see anything there you should apologize for. Watch out, though. You might get slapped down like I did. When you dare to be outspoken somebody might get their panties in a wad over it.

There's beauty in the simplicity of a slipjoint for sure -- and like any tool, they have a place.

How on earth could anyone hate good old fashion slipjoint patterns?. They have been around for centuries. The earliest ones were friction folders and the later ones came with back springs and liners. They are simply tried and true! That is why they have been around for so long and will continue to be here well after we are all gone. I like them all myself and as others here have already stated they are far more versatile than one handed openers..

The funniest part of this thread is the irony here..

Classic slipjoint patterns was the newer technology back in the day to replace the friction folder ... which is a... one handed opener that many members here prefer to slippies..

I guess it just goes to show that the old saying, "there is nothing new under the sun", still rings true here.
