Long time lurker, just made my first post a few days ago.

Bought my first benchmade knife a week ago.

And then another.

And then a CRKT knife.

And then another CRKT.

And today I just purchased a Sypderco Delica, and another mini griptilian.

And I'm about to press BUY on a fallkniven.

Damn this forum! I knew this would happen....!!!!!

So while we are at it, I've heard a lot about these DMT sharpening stones...supposedly better than this spyderco sharpmaker i've got...any thoughts?

BTW to anyone who saw my previous posts, this griptilian is absolutely razor sharp from the factory. :)

So that rabbits foot is paying off eh? :D

DMT is not really better, just different.

Yeeeep, Bladeforums is a money sucking black hole. Just don't visit the other knife forums and you'll be okay :P

freq18hz... yep.... happens to us all, doesn't it! Pretty much guaranteed. Stay away from firearms and flashlight forums too, same thing there, dang it! ;)

Never messed with DMT... heard it would have me talking to gods and aliens:D

Yes, BF is evil... I carry 2 knives but have 10 more or so in my bag/drawer. That's not counting works in progress.

I use the DMT Coarse, the Spyderco brown med and white fine profile rods (come in a set with a groove and a round edge for serrations. Then a fat 3" ultra fine Spyderco. I cut myself some ramps at 12 degrees for an inclusive 24. I hold my blade horizontal (at least try real hard to) and can get shave your arm hair off in one swipe sharp. I am not there yet to hair whittling sharp. I can make the hair dance on the edge, but it will not catch. I reprofiled my grip at 12 degrees. I admit my bevel is not the prettiest, and I got a couple of scratches on the face of the blade, but the pleasure of cutting with this one is like walking on sunshine. I do not mind changing things up a bit. I am about function over form. Welcome aboard, this is a great healthy hobby.

BF in 2+ years has cost about 20 knives and around 1k in sharpening stuff, did I mention most of it was DMT :)

holy crap this sucks so bad!

And the worst thing is, my arms are running out of hair! I've moved on to my legs, pretty soon I'm going to look like I am prepped for surgery!

someone talk me out of the fallkniven A1/hunter for my main survival knife, quick!

Um....if you get one you'll only lose more hair? :D

You'd better send me all your knives so for to keep yourself from shaving your legs all the time.

EDIT: Have you seen the new scrap yard REGULATOR? Check it out! http://shop.scrapyardknives.com/pro...A7715A.qscstrfrnt02?productId=47&categoryId=4

I just now got to the point where I feel satisfied with the knives I have. Feeling like I have all my bases covered. Then I see the post in the Spyderco forum about their new models....sigh. I know some, while awesome looking, I'll pass up, but others I'm not so sure. I'm a sucker for compression locks, and the Superleaf looks like a perfect EDC. But then again, I already have a perfect EDC. Somedays I feel like I should change my password to a random string of letters that I won't remember and never come back. :p

I thought I was perfectly happy with my S60V Blur and SG2 JYD II. Then I saw a Cold Steel Pocket Bushman and had to have it, and I thought I'd try out the Byrd line, so I bought a Cara Cara rescue, and then I bought an Izula. Then I saw a really good deal on a RTAKII and the ScrapYard Regulator, this is pretty much just in the past week. :/ I'm still waiting on most of them to come in!

And dont get me started on my search for a new work flashlight...

You go over to the Busse forum you better sell a kidney. Infi addiction will get you like it got me! "NO REGRETS" :D :)

I've been through a divorce, two kids in college, five summers of water sking with a new boat. Knives are the least expensive of my vices.

freq18hz welcome to the forum. when it really gets bad you average 3 new knives every week.dmt & spyderco are both great tools & i use both in my sharpening. think of it this way , they compliment each other.

Forget DMT Go EZLAP unlike dmt the exlap is just like an oil stone only it is metal with diamond grit. Use water. Does not have the holes like the dmt and they are solid metal and in my experience they work much better.

Hope this helps. Of course everyone has there likes and dis-likes I just happen to like EZLAP no offense to those DMT,ers out there.

And on that griptillian I have been looking at them and wishing. But like you I have bought so many knives I have to let the dust settle a bit. I am also a member of Candlepowerforum and I like small led lights that can blast a beam three hundred feet or more. So don't go there LOL If you do you will not be albe to say I did not warn you LOL :o
