I hate to do this, but another folder recommendation thread: Help me find my EDCgrail

Try to find a Benchmade 940D2CF. Or look at a 930 Kulgera.

I would second the BM707 as a ''basis'' for your grail - simple and elegant design and with a nice and smooth lock. ;)

Alterations could be..

- blade: there are two limited editions with s30v blades and one LE with D2 blades. They go for $ 160-190 on the secondary market. (they have different colored aluminium scales).
- handles: you could get aftermarket wood/g10/micarta handles - for example at cuscadi.de. They offer many different materials and they got some 707s in their BM gallery.
- clip: with the standard clip the end of the knife is well visible - but drawing it out of the waist band or pocket is really easy. You could get an aftermarket clip - IIRC STR is making titanium clips for about $ 40.

Another alternative could be most McHenry & Williams knives - and i have seen some going for ~450...

if the hinderer & sebenza didnt do it for you im not sure theres anything except in a custom that will.....

Thanks for all of the replies, guys!

I actually think I just found one this morning:

Joe Caswell In-line EDC

Looks like a real beaut!!

I like the suggestion of the Mnandi.

Also, one of the Titanium-handled Benchmade 94X series, either a gold class, or one of the older limited editions.

I found the William Henry GenTac to be an ideal knife, for me. It's very slim, has a great lock-up, beautiful construction and materials, and I believe they can be found for around your price point.
