but i like them all any ideas :barf:

Smoky Mountain knifeworks. I think the e-mail is eknifeworks.com.

They have a great selection of the pioneer models of the Victorinox brand Swiss army knives. You can't have too many sak's.

If you don't have any Opinels yet you should. Its a cheap knife, but they cut great, easy to sharpen and get scary sharp.

Another cheap knife that is a very good cutter is the Swedish made Frosts knives with the Mora blades. Do not confuse these with the Frosts pocket kknives from China or Tiawan. Two entirely differenct companies.

Good luck with your growing collection.

Opinels are about the only knives I can think of that you could buy and have shipped for less than $20. Least they are the only decent quality knives I can think of in that category. might be some fixed blades too but can't think of any right now.
I guess if you go to wal mart you can pick up a Kershaw Vapor for about $20 as well, they're supposed to be pretty decent. Maybe a Schrade sharpfinger, but I think they went out of business.

To be honest,I'd suggest saving your money and getting a good knife. You've already got a bunch of cheap ones. If you can get closer to $50 you'll have a lot more to choose from.

Hi Fireburn1134-

Place your twenty dollars in the bank. Sell fifteen of your current knives for whatever they're worth. With the combined money from your sales and savings efforts, invest towards a single high-quality knife of your choosing.

This will be a great start to a nicer collection and will allow for easier storage for the remaining four knives you own. The other nice thing is that you'll have some diversity in the brands and pricepoints of your hobby.

Enjoy!

Order a kagas katne from Himalayan Imports. Fifteen bucks handmade and it will start your obsession with HI products.

Put the twenty dollars down on a Randall... You should be able to save up another three hundred in four years...

Wait and save and get 1 higher quality knife. Matt has a good point that once you get to about $50 the quality you is much better. Personally, I'd wait a bit longer and get a ~$100 knife. Your choices with around a hundred bucks will be many & well worth the wait. Then it'll all just depend on your preferences.

Now if I had around $100 burning a hole in my pocket these might be my 2 possibilities:

For a good EDC knife with no frills I would get the Ritter:

If I wanted something fancier in mother-of-pearl, but not as tough:

Or...you could save even a bit more and get something with mammoth/mastodon ivory handles. Now how cool would it be to show that knife to your friends and tell them the handles are made out of 10,000 year old fossilized whooly mammoth tusk?

I will second the save your money idea. You might not have the instant gratification, but in the end, you will love the feel of a high quality knife that will out perform all other 18 knives you own.

Don't forget the Ka-bar Doziers and the Mini-Pika and Pika from Benchmade. You'll run a buck or three over twenty, but these are a lot of knife for the money. I agree to an extent about saving to buy something better. You might want to pick up a couple of the ones I mentioned as you go along and then start saving for a nicer knife. For bang for the buck, to me, the Griptilians are hard to beat.

Although I agree that you should save some money up, you don't have to get hundreds of dollars. I like "value" knives that are good for the money. Schrade Sharpfinger, if you can find it, 20.00. Cold Steel Bushman, 15 bucks at wholesale hunter. KaBar USMC 45-50 bucks. Buck 110, 30 bucks. most of the swiss army knives, I just picked up one at WalGreens for 9.95.

I've got to agree with those who are telling you to save your money. Although some decent, usable knives exist in the $20 range (SAK, Opinel, Vapor, Ka-Bar Dozier, etc.) I think you'll get a lot more satisfaction in the long run if you save your money for something better. For less than $50 you can get a Spyderco Endura or Delica, which have fantastic VG-10 steel blades, or for about $10 more than that get a Benchmade Griptilian, which has the awesome Axis lock. These are knives that will give you better performance and years of enjoyment. For about $100, you have even more great choices.

I started out buying less expensive knives, picking up one every year or so. I ended up with a drawer full of mediocre knives, none of which really did anything for me. I'd rather have one or two really nice knives than a drawer full of knives that are just okay.

Yeah Fireburn... what you are essentially doing is printing out the path inside your C drive on your personal computer that only you can see.

Got to agree with Planterz. You'll never go wrong with a good dictionary.
